Stanton Watches is an interesting young brand based in Hoboken, NJ that we’ve had our eyes on for a while. In fact, we put together an intro to them a few months ago that you can read here. What makes Stanton Watches interesting is that they are doing something pretty different from everyone else. No bulky divers, no pilot’s watches, rather they focus on dress watches. All of which are made with German cases, Swiss movements, sapphire crystals and moderate prices.
Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to their newest model, the L.E.S (Lower East Side) Edition Series 2. As the name suggests, this is a follow up to their L.E.S. 1, which sold out long ago. What sets the L.E.S. apart from the rest of the Stanton line is that it integrates a fairly formal dial design with a slightly sporty 40mm case that features a gripped edge bezel and crown guards. The end result is something a bit more masculine and rugged than your typical dress watch, yet still elegant and appropriate.
The Series 2 has a completely new dial design that is quite attractive. The dial features an inner silver sunburst area that contains an hour index of thin black roman numerals, a fancy Stanton logo and a date window. A white chapter ring that has an index of black lines and small gold half-spheres borders the center area. The gold domes are an especially nice detail, at once dressing up the watch and referring to vintage designs. The hands are thin black pointed sticks that keep in-line with the sport/dress mix. All in all, it’s a very handsome watch that I personally believe is an improvement on the original L.E.S.
The L.E.S. Series 2 will cost $1,095 and feature sapphire crystals front and back, a Selitta SW200 automatic movement and a genuine alligator strap. The watch will be available via Stanton Watch’s website within the next few days, but should you already be swayed into a purchase you can pre-order by emailing email@example.com. Keep in mind that like the original, the L.E.S. Series 2 is a limited edition.
