Finally, fall is approaching. This not only means that you can break out those 4mm thick leather straps, but also heavier and more interesting clothes. From boots, to light sweaters, jackets and heavier denim, the fall simply opens up so many options for style. Naturally, any watch can be worn year round, but some watches speak to colder weather and layered clothing. One such watch is the Hanhart Pioneer Mk I.
With a rich history in making stopwatches and chronographs, Hanhart’s line consists of watches that exude early 20th military style. Legible numerical dials, red accents and fluted bezels are just some of the details throughout their Pioneer line. The Mk I is based on vintage mono-pusher pilot’s chronographs, which used a single button to start, stop and reset the chronograph function. By modifying a Valjoux 7753, they were able to recreate this function, actuated with a cool red pusher. A modest 40mm case and choice of black or cream dials, completes what is one of the cooler chronographs for under $3k.
For today’s pairing, we went with a simple layered outfit that works for the changing season as well compliments the dynamic design of the Hanhart Pioneer Mk I. Classically styled elements, such as the Natural Trench Chukka by Oak Street Bootmakers, play off of the military influences of the Hanhart as well.
