Introducing Di-Modell Straps to the W&W Shop

Avid readers of worn&wound will know that we have a fondness for German watches. Sinn, Damasko, Archimede, Defakto, Nomos… to name a few, all offer better than average build quality, features from hardened steel to manufacture movements and at surprisingly accessible prices. Well, like watches, Germans have a way with watch straps that few can match. Exacting details, incredible finish and great durability are all hallmarks of the few German strap brands out there.

Today, we are pleased to announce that we are bringing into the worn&wound shop a few select straps by Di-Modell; the Chronissimo and the Pilot. Di-Modell, who are based in Tauberbischofsheim, like some of the brands they are supply straps too, are known for their intensely over engineered and incredibly rugged sport straps. The two we are initially bringing into the shop exemplify this and are straps we have personally worn on our watches for some time.

Chronissimo $89

These are the toughest, most rugged straps we’ve ever seen. They are to watch straps what hardened steel is to watch cases; an unwavering layer of protection. This isn’t a strap, it’s wrist armor. The Chronissimos have many features most straps only dream of:

  • Notched lugs: wider past the lugs for a more aggressive posture
  • Multi-layered design: Several layers of leather and padding come together to create a protective barrier for your wrist. 7mm thick at the lug tapering to 4mm
  • Waterproof: all edges are sealed using a special technique and the leather is protected against moisture
  • Aero-Lining: extra-breathable, patented lining adds to comfort.
  • Loop-Anchor: a patented loop on the underside prevents the keepers from shifting
  • Buckle-Protection: the lining leather extends under the buckle to prevent it from touching you skin
  • High-quality leather: the black cow-hide leather used is soft and supple, with a beautiful pebbled texture

That said, the Chronissimo isn’t just about toughness, as they have an distinct style unto themselves. Playing off of both sport and military designs, the tactical lines of the Chronissimo are fierce and masculine. Put these on your chronographs, tool divers and military watches and see as they take on a new, intense look.

Available in 18, 20, 22 and 24mm

Pilot $49

The Pilot strap is the lighter, more nimble brother of the Chronissimo. Also tough-as-nails, the Pilot is built to last and take a beating. The design is clean and deceptively simple, but features a dramatically contoured taper for an aerodynamic appeal. The Pilot also sports many impressive features:

  • Notched lugs: wider past the lugs for a more aggressive posture
  • Double stitched: adds a stylized design and extra strength
  • Waterproof: all edges are sealed using a special technique and the leather is protected against moisture
  • Heavy padding: several millimeters of padding add a shock absorbing layer
  • Buckle-Protection: the lining leather extends under the buckle to prevent it from touching you skin
  • High-quality leather: the black or brown cow-hide leather used is soft and supple, with a beautiful pebbled texture

Though the name suggests these are for Pilot watches, which they are, they also work in general with tool and sport watches. In particular, the dramatic taper looks great with barrel shaped cases, continuing the flow of the case throughout the strap.

Available in 20 and 22mm, black and brown

So, should you have a need for an extreme strap, we think these have got you covered.
