Introducing: Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition

There’s no denying the deep interest and investment with environmental conservation that is ingrained into the very core of Oris. These relationships with various conservation programs are organic, as much as they are thoughtful, resulting in a natural partnership that aligns with the brand’s environmental objectives and company values. It’s through these collaborations, different conservation programs are able to take that next step with the increased funding and awareness that up to this point, has literally made a significant Change For The Better. Now Oris’ efforts have found their way to the shores of New York City, partnering up with Billion Oyster Project to release the Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition.

The Billion Oyster Project was started in 2014 by Murray Fisher and Pete Malinowski with the sole intention of educating future generations about the positive impact of their program and other active conservation efforts. Turns out, nature already had a natural water filter in the oyster, which a fully grown one is able to filter 50 gallons of water a day. Tapping into the bivalve mollusk, the Billion Oyster Project has set out to clean up the New York City waterways by restoring one billion oysters to the harbor by 2035. The project has already seen some major success by introducing 75 million juvenile oysters to 18 restoration sites throughout the New York Harbor. With the help of Oris, the Billion Oyster Project should be on pace to eclipse the 100 millionth restored oyster this year.

The Oris Aquis New York Harbor adds to an endless amount of options when it comes to the Oris Aquis. With four different case sizes, an array of dial colors and multiple options when it comes to case materials, Oris has made sure that there’s an Aquis for everyone. This Aquis in particular is adorned with a green-mother-of-pearl dial that combines the pearl white outer shell of an oyster and the greenish hue of the Hudson Harbor. The rippled texture throughout makes for a dial that looks to be in constant motion, just like the Hudson river itself.

The Oris Aquis New York Harbor comes in their medium sized dive watch format, coming in at 41.5 mm in case width, a matte steel bezel with polished numerals and markers etched in relief and 300 meters of water resistance. The limited edition comes with two options to mount the Aquis on; one being the signature Oris Aquis integrated rubber strap in a matching green colorway, and the other, a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a diver extension clasp. On the underside of the case, Oris recognizes the Billion Oyster Project with an oyster portrait engraving along with a New York Harbor Limited Edition inscription and edition number. Powering the Oris Aquis New York Harbor is the Oris 733, a modified movement based on the vetted Sellita SW200-1equipped with 38 hours of power reserve.

Check out the good work that’s going into the Billion Oyster Project and see how you can get involved here. The Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition is limited to 2,000 pieces and retails for $2,510 (CHF 2,400). Oris
