Nomos Updates Neomatik 41 In New Metro & Tangente …Update

Complications from Nomos hit different. Whether it’s a world timer, or a power reserve indication, Nomos will find a way to make it their own. This of course requires some trick engineering for their movements in order to meet the unique design spec the brand is known for. The date complication introduced with their in-house caliber DUW 6101 is no exception. This year, the movement lands in two new watches within the Metro and Tangente families with a pair of neomatik Update models.

The Metro neomatik 41 Update

This year the Metro line receives the DUW 6101 in the 41 Update, setting its own unique design language around the peculiar date display set at the dial’s perimeter. Pill shaped apertures surround the date, which is highlighted by a pair of colorful plots that rotate into position. In the case of the Metro, the dial, which is a mixture of cool grey tones, welcomes the small but powerful orange accents for this purpose.

A series of small and large dots mark out the hours and minutes for the slender hands to track against, which may look random at first, but taken as a whole offer an almost therapeutic experience. It may not replace your Headspace app, but it could serve as a good partner to strengthen its effectiveness.

The Tangente Update

If you need a little more structure in the dial of your watch the Tangente also receives the DUW 6101 with the date display getting bright green accents against the dark navy dial. Rather than dots, Nomos is using their slender typeface to mark the even Arabic numerals with bars filling in the odd spaces.

Each watch gets the neomatik date caliber DUW 6101 which features a quick-set mechanism allowing the date to be set, well, quickly, either forward or backward. At just 3.6mm in thickness the cases of the Tangente and Metro are well under 10mm in total depth, measuring 7.8mm and 9.1mm respectively, and 41mm in diameter.

The DUW 6101 is an automatic movement and the whole show is visible through an exhibition caseback. You’ll find simple but effective finishing applied to the plates accentuated by blued screws and red jewels. It’s a lovely view, especially considering the sub $5,000 price point of each watch. The Metro neomatik 41 Update is priced at $4,660 while the Tangente neomatik Update can be had for $4,100. Nomos.
