Squale’s Newest 1521 Features a Fully Lumed Dial

Squale’s 1521 series of dive watches is among their most classic and traditional. Rated to a full 500 meters of water resistance, the case lines and proportions scream “tool watch,” and the collection consists of watches in a variety of colorways. There’s truly something for every taste, whether you’re looking for a blacked-out diver, one with a bronze case, or a variant with the can’t-go-wrong blue dial. The newest addition to the lineup is the “1521 Full Luminous,” which, as the name implies, features a fully luminous dial.

The Full Luminous appears at first to look like any other 1521, but the entirety of the dial is coated in SuperLuminova. Naturally, the hands are black (including the minute hand, typically bright orange in the 1521 collection) to create a contrast against the dial when it’s fully illuminated in a low light scenario. Hour markers alternate between black and orange, creating a unique look both in daylight and the dark.

The 1521 Full Luminous is powered by the ETA 2824-2, one of the most reliable Swiss movements on the market today, measures 41mm in diameter while coming in under 13mm thick for a versatile fit that will suit many. The watch is mounted on a tropic style rubber strap for a fittingly retro look and feel. Squale

It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay. Zach loves a wide variety of watches, but leans toward classic designs and proportions that have stood the test of time. He is currently obsessed with Grand Seiko.
