Unimatic Modello Quattro Goes Slim In New Collab With KNT

Unimatic is back with another striking collaboration, this time with KNT (Kiton New Textures), delivering a new Modello Quattro that represents a new evolution of the popular case. The newest reference is officially called the U4S-KNT, and it’s packing a Selitta SW-200, meaning the case thickness has been trimmed down a full millimeter, from 13.4 to 12.4. This isn’t the first time we’re seeing this movement used by Unimatic, as it continues to transition into trimmer, more wearable cases throughout each of their collections. It’s a most welcome shift if the fixed bezel U4, and while the watch may be more wrist friendly, they haven’t held back on any of the drama visually.

This collaboration is done with Kiton New Textures, or KNT, an Italian based clothing brand that creates ‘urbanwear’ with an emphasis on experimentation, focusing on the research into fibers, yarns, and workmanship. It’s an offshoot of the classic stylings of the Kiton Group. The collaboration with Unimatic has resulted in a high contrast black and blue color scheme similar to what we see in some of the clothing brand’s seasonal offerings.

The U4S(slim)-KNT gets a steel 40mm case that’s received a healthy DLC coating of black that continues right into the dial. The hands are filled with KNT blue Superluminova, with track against a sterile black dial. Only the Unimatic logo at 6 o’clock breaks the void. A KNT blue two piece TPU strap is equally as dramatic as the case and dial, with the brand’s logo and icon etched into each half.

In addition to the TPU blue strap, the kit will ship with 5 additional nylon straps done in vinaccia, giallo ginestra, international orange, KNT blue and black. All colors featured in the clothing brand’s offerings.

Unimatic has begun using Sellita based movements in their watches, and creating more ergonomic cases in the process. These were never subtle watches to begin with, and this latest example is no exception, but a more thoughtful case execution is a welcome feature to the striking visual design language of Unimatic. The brand is highly transparent in communicating every possible dimension of their watches, and that continues here: 40mm in diameter; 22mm lug span; 49mm lug to lug; 12.4mm thickness; 8mm crown; and a 28.4mm viewing window.

The U4S-KNT will be limited to 120 numbered pieces and goes on sale today at 11 am eastern for the price of $900. Unimatic.
