Quantum Leap Made For The Quantum Internet

Via PhysicsWorld

Just when we thought that 5G was the latest and greatest when it comes to technology that provides us with lightning quick communication, there is another technology that has the potential to be absurdly faster, and even at one point was thought to be impossible. As per the NY Times, a team of physicists out of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have made a significant step towards the computer network of the future called quantum teleportation. Quantum teleportation allows the ability to transfer information without actually moving the physical matter that holds it. Still don’t get it? Okay, remember in Star Trek when Captain Kirk goes, “Beam me up Scotty!” and then in an instant he’s inside the ship? Well we know all too well that human teleportation is not (yet) possible. However within the realm of quantum mechanics, we now know that teleportation is possible in the subatomic world. This is pretty intriguing stuff, if you’re able to digest it all in one sitting. I know I had to read several paragraphs a second time to somewhat understand what was going on. Quantum physics is not our specialty here at Worn & Wound, so we’ll just stick to watches and let the experts explain quantum teleportation to you better here.

Thor Love & Thunder

And speaking of lighting quick, space and teleportation … there’s a different vibe you expect to get when watching certain films within the Marvel Universe. This is especially so with the likes of Thor and Guardians of The Galaxy. They’re not so serious. They’re witty-er and filled with vibrant colors and recognizable 70’s soundtracks. Thor Love & Thunder is a continuation of all of that. In the latest addition to the Thor film-series, we follow Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) journey as he returns back to his God of Thunder ways (and that includes shedding the Dad-bod we saw in Avengers: End Game). And also from the looks of the trailer, Thor reunites with his old flame Jane (Natalie Portman) and the Guardians of the Galaxy gang to face yet another enemy threatening the fate of the universe. Mark your calendars for the July 8th release.

Lego Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3

Via Lego

We love Legos here at the Worn & Wound office. Doesn’t take long to know that with all the various Lego car models of all shapes and sizes spread throughout our space. From the looks of the recent Lego Technic release, some of us might have to add another one to the growing collection. Earlier this week, Lego Technic announced the new Ferrari Daytona SP3 model equipped with a 12-cylinder engine, butterfly-doors and an eight-speed gearbox. The model in total is made up of a whopping 3,778 pieces. Lego Technic models are easy to appreciate for having intricate details and surprising functions similar to that of the real thing. We know that it’s not the actual car, but there’s still no denying the only two words to describe the Lego Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3: outrageously cool. ego is set to release the Ferrari Daytona SP3 model globally on June 1st and will retail at $399.99.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One

Tom Cruise has been dominating movie headlines this week as the heavily anticipated release of Top Gun: Maverick (those following closely have been waiting for the film since its original release date of July 12, 2019) finally hit theaters. And there’s no coincidence that as that anticipation finally ends, a new one begins with the release of the Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Part One trailer. Christopher McQuarrie returns as the director for the seventh installment of the Mission Impossible series. Also returning … Tom Cruise in his role as Ethan Hunt, a senior agent for the Mission Impossible Force who yet again, with the help of his team (some familiar faces here as well including actors Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny and Simon Pegg) is faced with the task to save the world. The trailer sets the stage for a ton of jaw-dropping shootouts, epic fight scenes, dizzying car chases and of course, Tom Cruise running for his life. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is set to release on July 23, 2023.

eBay Finds: Vintage 1976 Men’s Bulova Chronograph Stars And Stripes Watch Original Wristwatch

Via eBay User: @arildcn

Ok, so this one is a bit of a flyer, but with a model name like “Stars and Stripes”, you kind of have to take a flyer right? The Bulova Stars and Stripes is a rare and highly sought after vintage chronograph that is truly unique. The fancy blue and white three sub-dial dial with cream lume and red hands is unlike any other vintage watch. It’s not for everyone, with its large size and bold look. That said, you can’t deny it’s a cool one! This one looks to be in nice, honest, original condition. The 42mm steel case looks unpolished, and the dial and hands are excellent, and the oversized crown is signed “Bulova” as it should be. It even comes with the original mesh bracelet which completes the unique look. Seller states the buckle is broken, but that should be something fixable I would imagine. The reason I said this one is a bit of a flyer is that the seller states the watch works and runs, but they don’t know what the “other buttons” are for. Hmmm. So, if you’ve been pining for one of these and are willing to take a chance, this could be a home run.
