Casio and Mountain Apparel Brand, Mammut Link Up for the Latest Addition to PRO TREK line

Casio’s PRO TREK line is designed for those that live a life not bound by staying indoors. Like the PRO TREK’s siblings within the Casio family, they’re rugged in aesthetic and reliable in function. The PRO TREK line is also a platform for the brand to experiment with sustainable materials, such as their growing Biomass collection. Keeping these qualities in mind, it’s only natural that a collaboration with mountain and outdoor apparel brand, Mammut would take place. The PRW61MA-1A is the latest addition to the PRO TREK line and blends in Mammut’s design cues used throughout their apparel and gear, as well as their ongoing brand mission to assist with environmental conservation efforts.

Mammut has been providing a wide range of dependable and thoughtfully designed gear for forays into the mountains for 160 years and counting. They’ve made strides with their insulation technology through their various Mammut Down offerings, as well as their fabric technology via their MAMMUT DRYtechnology™. Furthermore, they’ve consistently supported those who are getting out there and doing their part to leave the planet better than they found it.

The PRW61MA-1A combines Casio’s and Mammut’s environmental awareness into one analog-digital offering. The entire case is made out of what Casio is calling an “eco-friendly biomass plastic”. The straps that accompany the collaborative piece are also made from sustainable materials. The two-piece cloth strap adorned with a snow capped mountain pattern is made from recycled PET material, while the black urethane strap is made from biomass plastic using raw materials from castor seeds and corn.

The case is what you would expect a Casio PRO TREK to look like. The protruding case sides are framed by a pair of function buttons on each side. The robust 51mm width, 47.4mm lug to lug, and 14.7mm thick case proportions are balanced out by the light case weight, which comes in at a feathery 55g. The case also sports a charcoal bezel brushed bezel that houses city abbreviations from across the globe and works in tandem with the World Time feature. The orange accents found within the handset, Mammut logo and the remainder of the case are inspired from the use of the bright color found within Mammut’s apparel.

This is a Casio afterall, and with the durable case and rugged aesthetic, comes a suite of features. The PRW61MA-1A comes equipped with Casio’s Triple Sensor Technology which includes an altimeter/barometer, thermometer, and compass, as well as five separate alarms and the aforementioned World Time function. All of this is powered by Casio’s Tough Solar technology that offers a battery operating time of 6 months on rechargeable battery with normal use and 25 months when the watch is stored in total darkness with the power save function enabled.

The Casio PRO TREK x Mammut PRW61MA-1A is currently available directly through Casio and retails for $420. Casio x Mammut
