Introducing The G-Shock Hidden Coast Series

Inspired by the exploration of unknown coastal regions, G-Shock is releasing 6 new models across three families in the Hidden Coast series. I’ll pause here to acknowledge that the phrase “unknown coastal regions” piqued my curiosity, could there really be unknown coastal regions? Turns out, ‘unexplored coastal regions’ is likely more accurate, but as the saying goes, we don’t know what we don’t know. According to the NOAA, more than 80% of the ocean is unseen, unobserved, and unexplored, and if we consider ‘coastal regions’ as including bits of the ocean, there’s some truth to the phrase. Regardless, if coastal region exploring of any kind is on your agenda, G-Shock has you covered.

The Hidden Coast series spans three reference families: the analog-digital GA2000, the slimmer octagonal GA2100, and the utility GA900. Each gets a pair of watches that feature a unique color combination that range from bright blues, to more subtle earth tones that come together with a surprising amount of playfulness.

The GA900 gets the same rugged ani-digi base we’ve seen before, all built into a matte resin case. The new colorways here pair a sandy, taupe color case with a black dial and yellow accents, while a second variant goes dark green for the case with orange accents on the dial. Each has an interchangeable strap system allowing you to mix and match to your heart’s content, assuming you have other GA900 models with compatible straps. These GA900 references are priced at $130.

Next are the semi-translucent GA2000 models which receive a pair of vibrant colorways. Like those N64 controllers your buddy had back in the day, the GA2000 is colorful, and kinda clear from the case to the strap. Here we’ve got a blue case with white dial and clear strap, and a black case with green strap and orange bezel. These feel the most “normal” of the bunch thanks to their rounded case shape and almost traditional lug design. The GA2000 references are priced at $130.

Finally, one of the most popular G-Shock references to hit the scene in recent years, the octagonal GA2100. The two colorways here are riffs on what we’ve seen above, with a base blue example getting a clear case, and a green case with black dial getting an orange strap. The GA2100 references are priced at $110.

The entire Hidden Coast series will be available to order from this month. G-Shock.
