Titanium is a great material to work with in many different applications. It’s strong, light and has a great color as well. It’s a perfect material for watches. The OCEAN7 LM-2 uses titanium for it’s casing and achieves a fantastic looking result. Everything on the LM-2 is in the right place and although it is a large watch it feels balanced, because of the sizing and proportions throughout. And it achieves all of this while saving weight due to its titanium construction.
The case is wide (45mm), containing all of the functions and readouts inside and behind the domed sapphire. Not having an exterior bezel is actually handy due to the fact that you are less likely to hit, scuff, or knock it out of place.
Due to the large diameter case, the height is more proportional. Its taller than most at 17mm, but is not as noticeable. Usually this construction would be quite heavy, but due to the use of titanium it’s much more manageable.
The dial is very large and easy to read, with markers in five classic shapes. The colors contrast and are well organized to read the time very quickly. The date function is right above the 6 o’clock position, keeping with the overall balance of the watch.
The rubber band on this watch is as nicely detailed as the case. The top surface has branding on both sides and molded channels underneath. These channels are helpful in keeping the band off your wrist as much as possible to make it less sticky in high heat situations. The huge angular clasp is great and fits in with the size of the rest of the watch.
The LM-2 at first look has a lot of the details that a diver should. As you look closer you can see they have massaged the design down to something all their own, while keeping everything you expect from a dive watch. Our favorite part of this piece has to be the interior bezel. This is the original version of the LM-2.
*Note, the Ocean 7 LM 2 is no longer available for sale. Its original sale price was $899.
