Position Overview
The Associate Editor is a key contributor responsible for producing consistent, high-quality written content across Worn & Wound’s editorial platforms. This role works closely with senior editorial leadership to maintain our daily publishing cadence, strengthen our content pipeline, and expand our voice across news, features, guides, video scripts, and event-driven reporting. The Associate Editor also supports Shop and Media teams with copywriting.
The ideal candidate is a disciplined, curious, and detail-oriented writer who can balance fast-turn news with thoughtful editorial work. They enjoy collaborating across teams, developing subject-matter expertise, and contributing to a dynamic, growing media organization.
Core Responsibilities
Editorial Writing & Production
- Write and upload two Shop Chronicles per week
- Write one product or shop-related video script per week in coordination with the media team
- Produce two to four news posts per week, including quick-turn industry updates
- Build and format posts in the CMS with proper SEO, internal linking, and imagery
- Support event-driven editorial coverage through industry events, launches, and brand presentations
- Assist with performance summaries and content reporting as needed
Growing Responsibilities as the Role Develops
Once a baseline of quality and consistency is established, responsibilities expand to include:
- Increased writing volume across news, guides, seasonal content, and occasional features
- Appearing in videos and podcasts as comfort and expertise develop
- Participating in medium-term and seasonal editorial planning
- Handing off Chronicle uploading to the Social Media Manager once workflow is fully established
- Taking a larger role in brand visits, press meetings, and event coverage
- Contributing to a stable cadence of one feature per day across the editorial calendar
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- 2–4 years of writing or editorial experience (media, product journalism, enthusiast verticals, or related fields)
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt to Worn & Wound’s voice
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and CMS publishing workflows
- Ability to manage deadlines across multiple concurrent assignments
- Comfortable attending industry events and representing the brand professionally
- Willingness to appear on camera for editorial video and podcast content
- A genuine interest in watches, product culture, design, or storytelling is strongly preferred
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- New York City based (hybrid environment with in-person requirements)
Benefits and Compensation
This is a NYC-based, Temporary Full-Time position that converts to permanent after a 90-day trial period.
Expected salary range: $60,000–$65,000 per year.
