Come See Oris at the San Francisco Windup Watch Fair!

With just a few weeks left until the San Francisco Windup Watch Fair, we wanted to present a sneak peek of what to expect from Oris. Over the past several years, Oris has kept the watch community on its toes with a steady stream of new releases that incorporate unique use of dial color and texture, case material, and innovative movement technology. From the Cotton Candy Divers Sixty-Fives to the Rectangular to the Aquis Date Calibre 400 in both 43 and 41.5 mm. They’ve kept up the pace in 2022 with introductions across their product families. Below is a rundown of just some of the new models that will be on hand at the San Francisco Windup Watch Fair.

Big Crown X Cervo Volante

Oris has long been an advocate for environmental conservation. Via their Change for the Better initiative, Oris has partnered with a number of conservation organizations, including the Coral Restoration Foundation, Everwave, and the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, among others. Their most recent conservation-focused partnership is with Cervo Volante, an organization focused on producing high-quality leather goods from deer skins that are the bi-product of Switzerland’s annual hunting season. These skins would otherwise be wrongfully destroyed. In 2017 and 2018 alone, Cervo Volante collected approximately 2,800 hides that were then used to sustainably produce premium leather products.

For the Big Crown X Cervo Volante collaboration, Oris paired three unique dial color variants of the Big Crown Pointer Date with sustainable deer leather straps from Cervo Volante. The three dial colors included in this collection – gray, blue, and green – reflect the natural palette found in Switzerland’s mountainscapes, and each piece is presented in a Cervo Volante deer leather travel case. Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze

Oris is no stranger to using bronze effectively in their watch case designs. Beginning with the Carl Brashear Limited Edition in 2016, Oris has released several well-received watches that feature bronze as either a core case material or color accent. Oris was back at it again earlier this year with another standout bronze piece, this time utilizing the 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date silhouette and featuring a fully-bronze 7-link bracelet.

Available in four dial colors, blue, brown, green, and bordeaux, the Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date is an apt platform for a fully-bronze case and bracelet. The Big Crown Pointer Date line has been in continuous production since 1938 and stands as Oris’ longest-running design. The natural patina of bronze speaks to the legacy of the Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date and the brands’ roots in Hölstein, Switzerland. Learn more about the Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date here.

ProPilot X Calibre 400

Oris’ latest release, the ProPilot X Calibre 400, is a celebration of mechanical innovation and purpose-built watch design that manages to be both rooted in tradition, and yet, a ton of visceral fun at the same time. In Oris’ words “The ProPilot X Calibre 400 follows in a long line of Oris pilot’s watches going back to the early 1900s, but its power lies beyond its associations: it’s a mechanical joy machine.”

The Oris in-house Calibre 400 movement powering this ProPilot X is highly anti-magnetic, features a five-day power reserve, and comes with a 10-year warranty. In addition, the Calibre 400 movement has a recommended service interval of 10 years, resulting in a movement that is uniquely innovative and durable.

The ProPilot X Calibre 400 marries a familiar ProPilot X case and bracelet design with a new dial layout to create something exciting for pilot watch enthusiasts. Within the collection, the available dial colors range greatly, including an understated grey, versatile blue, and playful salmon. And while the case design of this new ProPilot X shares many features of the original, including sharp angles, a knurled bezel, and titanium material, it has been trimmed down to 39mm. If the original Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 115 piqued your interest, the ProPilot X Calibre 400 may strike all of the right notes. Learn more about the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 here.

These watches and many more will be available to check out in person at the upcoming San Francisco Windup Watch Fair, April 22-24. To learn more about the event, including hours of operation and location, click here. We hope to see you there!
