The Hamburg is a long time best-seller in Sternglas’s robust Bauhaus collection. Driven by community feedback, Sternglas has added three Chronograph variants to the Hamburg family after two years of design iterations. Using the countdown function in every sailing watch as a motivator for all of life’s tasks on and off the water, the Hamburg Chrono serves as witness to your daily achievements. The collection itself is named after the German city of Hamburg, long sought out for dynamic water sports upon the pristine Alster Lake.
Blend Boat-Racing and Bauhaus with the New Hamburg Chrono from Sternglas
Now even more tied to its history, the integrated chronograph available in three unique designs, Silver, Dark Green Bronze, and Regatta. Each piece brings its own unique design choices, the Chrono Silver features bold red accents on the chronograph hands and date window. The Dark Green Bronze carries forward Sternglas’ popular design from the Hamburg Dark Blue Bronze. The watch feature PVD bronze in homage to Hamburg’s famous warehouse district as well. The Regatta edition features more primary colors against a clean dial. The Regatta edition date window features a fun surprise, as colorful signal flags will appear every other day. These watches are available on leather straps, field style pass-through straps, or with matching SuperSlim metal bracelets.
These new Chronographs feature stop and start functionality easily found on pushers at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions. The upper pusher handles starting and stopping with the lower pusher to reset the indicator back to 12 o’clock, recreating the effect of the mechanical chronograph. The left sub-dial counts minutes elasped while the right sub-dial tracks a 24 hour position within the day.
With a Seiko VK64 Mecha-Quartz movement, timekeeping is precise and smooth down to the sweeping second hand and allows for improved visibility in an enlarged date window. This movement combines quartz timing precision and that satisfying snap when activating the chronograph, along with the second-hand sweep we enthusiasts so enjoy. The cases are 42 mm in diameter and, due to the movement choice, only 9.3 mm thin excluding the double-domed sapphire crystal.
A stainless steel 316L case and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal forms a resilient shell around these pieces. Not content with technical precision, be sure to see Stenglas’ engraving on the caseback as well, featuring two sailboats out on the historic Lake Alster, pushing themselves to their very best.
The Sternglas Hamburg Chrono Mecha-Quartz starts around US$399 dollars and is available now with free shipping and free returns. Discover the Hamburg Chrono Mecha-Quartz from Sternglas and their vast array of Bauhaus-inspired watches in their online shop today.
