The Milgraph from Micromilspec Brings Military Precision to the Wrist

Norway’s Micromilspec has been producing custom Swiss-made timepieces for first responders and military units since 2019. Some of their clients include the U.S. Space Force, the French Special Forces, the Oslo Fire Brigade, and various branches and squadrons of the Norwegian Military. Their watches are designed to be reliable companions for daily activities and special situations where every second counts. The Milgraph is their most recent timepiece, featuring both a chronograph and dual-time functionality. It represents the culmination of 40 custom projects over the past five years.

The Micromilspec Milgraph has a diameter of 42mm, a lug span of 50.3mm, and a thickness of 15mm. It is constructed from grade 5 titanium, which offers superior scratch resistance compared to stainless steel and is 45% lighter. The no-nonsense black textured dial includes a chronograph minute counter at 6 o’clock, an hour counter at 12 o’clock, and a constant seconds sub-register at 3 o’clock. It also has a fourth hand from the center pinion, showing a second time zone, and points to a 24-hour track on the outer rehaut.

Surrounding the dial is a unidirectional diving bezel, which can also be used as an elapsed time counter to time anything you might want on land. Many companies have these bezels, and there is always a trade-off between being grippy enough and aesthetically pleasing. Somehow, Micromilspec has threaded the needle perfectly by including four pronounced notches, making it easy to find, purchase, and turn the bezel. The crown and pushers are positioned on the left side of the case. This design choice aims to enhance comfort and prevent discomfort during heavy use by avoiding pressure on the back of the hand.

The La Joux-Perret caliber L121 powers the Milgraph in Soignée grade. This is an integrated chronograph movement with column wheel activation and 26 jewels. The Soignée grade means that it is adjusted in 5 positions to maintain an accuracy of +/- 4 seconds per day and features Cote de Geneve striping. This automatic movement runs at 28,800 beats per hour, with 26 jewels, and has a power reserve of 60 hours and an additional GMT (second time zone) complication. However, there is no date display, which contributes to the dial’s symmetry.

There are guards to protect the chronograph pushers and crown guards to prevent shearing. The case back features the brand’s logo and screws down to provide water resistance up to 100 meters. The watch is topped off with a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Additionally, the screw-down crown has a red indicator on its stem, making it easy for the wearer to see if the crown is not fully screwed in. It comes with a form-fitting 20mm rubber strap with a matching grade 5 titanium pin buckle.

Although the Micromilspec Milgraph is not a limited edition, only 50 pieces are produced annually. If you want one, you may want to act fast before all 50 are allocated for the year. Priced at $3,890, learn more about the Milgraph at the Micromilspec website today. Micromilspec is excited to meet more of the American enthusiast community at the Windup Watch Fair 2024 in New York City.
