After last year’s highly-acclaimed 60th Anniversary trilogy, Omega had a slightly quieter showing this year, but the watches Omega put out were no less impressive. In particular, two releases stood out: both Seamaster 1948 limited editions, and the latest CK2998 Speedmaster chronograph, also a limited edition release.
(Video) First Look: The Omega Seamaster 1948 Collection and CK2998 Pulsometer Speedmaster (2018)
First, let us look at the two Seamaster 1948 reissues. Celebrating 70 years of the iconic Seamaster, Omega went back into its archives to bring back two classic models: one features center-seconds and dauphine hands, and the other has a seconds sub-dial and long, elegant leaf hands. Both are based on distinct historical references, and the watches are limited to 1,948 units each.
And then there newest member of Omega’s celebrated CK2998 family. For 2018, we got a really Speedmaster with a panda dial, a pulsometer scale, and a red chronograph hand. It looks like the sort of watch a bunch of Speedmaster collectors would design, and I mean that in a very good way. Everyone we spoke to at the show, if they brought up Omega, then they talked about this watch. Being that it is limited to 2,998 units it is sure to sell out in no time.
