G-SHOCK Releases Street Utility Military Series with Four New Models

Japanese G-SHOCK is well-known for producing watches beloved for their multi-functionality. From streetwear style, to military readiness, to general utility as hardy tool watches, the brand’s watches are prized for their job and fashion versatility. Last week, G-SHOCK unveiled their latest collection with the new Street Utility Military Series, inclusive of two new watches each in the popular GA2000 and newly-developed DW5610 lines. This new series works to bring together the brand’s different style veins in military, tool, and fashion-focused categories into single multi-purpose watches, converging the built-tough attitude with streetwear-ready styling.

Of the two models we see using the new square-case DW5610 design are the green and black DW5610SU-3 and grey and black DW5610SU-8. Both of the new models feature unique color combinations which the brand claims is accomplished via a newly developed layered bezel structure only seen in the DW5610 design. This new structure uses a two-part molding process which G-SHOCK says enhances the strength of the bezel by bringing together separate top and base pieces in final case assembly and creating the multi-tone watch. This structural update in the DW5610 comes in comparison to the popular DW5600 design, which uses a single-piece bezel construction and in-turn features only one color for its case.

Outside of colorway, the two new models are identical, each featuring the assortment of popular G-SHOCK seen on the DW5600 like extreme shock resistance, 200-m water resistance, a chronograph, alarm, and countdown timer among a few other features.

Taking a look at the two new GA2000 watches, the black GA2000SU-1A and dusty blue GA2000SU-2A, we see the brand use the classic round-face design complete with its large side buttons, Super LED Light, and detachable band structure for quick changing the bracelet. New on these models for the Street Utility Military series is their use of green and blue camouflage dials, further developing the focus we’re seeing in this new series for multi-tonal watches.

Like the DW5610 watches, the two new analog GA2000 models also feature an assortment of popular G-SHOCK technologies, notably its “Carbon Core Guard Base” internal case structure, five alarms, worldtimer, chronograph, and auto-calendar among many others.

Unlike other special edition G-SHOCK series, the Street Utility Military watches will be available on an ongoing basis and will likely see expansion overtime given the newly developed DW5610 reference used to create it. The watches are available now directly through G-SHOCK and will be available at brand-authorized dealers like Macy’s and the G-SHOCK Soho Store later this month. G-SHOCK
