Doxa Expands their Whitepearl Collection with Five New Watches

Doxa isn’t exhibiting at Watches & Wonders, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get in on some of the new release craziness of this very big week for the watch world. It’s actually quite interesting to observe what the brands not involved in the show choose to do in response to it, because it’s an unavoidable force in the community that needs to be reckoned with one way or another by a brand’s marketing department. Parallel announcements or announcements right before or immediately after the show are strategic decisions that brands, one imagines, spend inordinate amounts of time wrestling with. In any case, Doxa has taken the interesting route of not introducing a new watch, per se, but adding a new color option to a total of five watches already in their catalog. Ready for the spring and summer season, the SUB 300 Carbon, SUB 300, SUB 300T, SUB 600T and SUB 1500T are now available in Whitepearl.

Faithful readers and Doxa fans will likely recall that the Sub 200 got the Whitepearl treatment back in July of last year. This week’s announcements are simply an expansion of what now amounts to a completely new, full fledged Doxa colorway. Because Doxa’s case designs are so distinct, a pure white dial really has a transformative effect on how the watch presents, taking a diver that is a hearty professional tool in, for example, black, to a watch that’s quite a bit flashier and more design forward in a crisp and stark white. That said, the white dials here are still designed with legibility in mind, and feature black contrasting elements on the hands and hour markers.

As is so frequently the case, the real fun here happens after dark, as the Whitepearl dials are fully luminescent and put on quite a show on a full charge. It seems that fully lumed dials are having something of a moment between these new Doxas as well as releases from TAG Heuer and Norqain in the last year, and we’re here for it as a fun alternative to a traditional dial and a nostalgic throwback to that simple feeling of being fascinated by things that glow in the dark that we all had (I think?) as children. And maybe that continues into adulthood for some of us – that’s completely fine.

The new Whitepearl watches are available to order now from Doxa, with delivery expected later in the Spring. Doxa

It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay. Zach loves a wide variety of watches, but leans toward classic designs and proportions that have stood the test of time. He is currently obsessed with Grand Seiko.
