eBay Finds: A Funky 70s Hamilton, a Genuinely Rare Casio Calculator Watch, and a Seiko Bullhead Chrono

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

New Old Stock Royce

Here is a nice little vintage Royce that looks to be New Old Stock. The unpolished 34mm stainless steel case has a pleasing rounded design with really nice fancy lugs that feature solid attached bars. As such, you’ll need a nato strap or one that is suited for welded strap bars. The salmon colored dial looks brand new (as it should), with stylized Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9. It has slim leaf hands, with a stylish sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The watch comes with the original Royce hangtag, which is a nice touch. Seller states the watch runs, but no movement picture.

Seiko Bullhead 6138-0049

The Seiko 6138-0049 Bullhead is a great beast of a 1970’s knuckle dragger, but you just have to love this watch. Seiko made two versions, the black and blue, and the brown and gold. This brown and gold dialed version personifies the 1970’s look if you ask me. The huge steel case shows some wear but is unpolished and still shows the original brushed finish and sharp edges. The dial looks original and is in fantastic shape, same with the nicely lume filled hour and minute hands. These are called “Bullhead” because of the 12 o’clock location of the crown and chronograph pushers, giving it a cool and unique look. This example comes on the correct and original “fishbone” style bracelet. The Hardlex crystal is scratched, but you can find NOS replacements as well as well made aftermarket crystals to swap out if you wish.

Bulova Computron

I love me a good ol’ LED, and this Bulova is a gem! The chunky octagonal case is gold plated and in great shape, with nice sharp edges and original brushed/polished finish. The Bulova signed LED glass is clean and free of any chips or cracks. The only downside is it doesn’t have the original bracelet, but the period correct gold stretch band works well and you can always slap something more…”you” on it. The good part is that the watch works and looks sharp.

Seiko 7006-8007

Here’s a great vintage Seiko 7006-8007 day/date watch with the original bracelet. This is peak “bang for your buck” Seiko. These were designed as an “everyman” watch that was affordable, and they still are. Yet it is made with the same quality and attention to detail that Seiko is famous for. I’ve had several like this one and they all ran like champs and looked great on the wrist. The dark gray dial looks clean, with the standard stick markers and dauphine hands. The 36mm steel case looks sharp and unpolished, with a nicely recessed crown at 3 o’clock. The bonus is that it comes on the correct and original Seiko beads of rice bracelet. Great watch that should be easy on the wallet.

Casio TC-50 Touch Screen Calculator Watch

While vintage LED’s are the tops for electronic watches for me, a good LCD is fun too. This vintage Casio TC-50 is super cool, and apparently it has a functioning touch screen! I’ll be honest, I don’t really know much about this model, and I couldn’t find much out about it on the interwebs. However, despite the term “rare” being bandied about far too often on eBay, this does seem to be a harder-than-most to find LCD. Seller states it has a new battery and works, and actually does look to be new old stock with the original screen protector sticker in place. Comes on the original plastic band as well as having the original box. Pretty neat piece of watch/electronics history.

Vintage Hamilton Men’s Watch

Going to finish this week’s offerings with a funky cool vintage 1970’s Hamilton day/date watch with original bracelet and box and papers! The seller calls it “Mid Century”, but this is definitely 1970’s. The 38mm steel case is super clean, with razor sharp edges and original brushed finish. It has a round “UFO” style to it, with a signed crown partially recessed at 3 o’clock. The charcoal/black dial is minty fresh, with classic 70’s styling and a day/date window at 3. The two piece mesh/link bracelet is really unique, and looks to be original to me. Best of all this beauty comes in the original inner and outer boxes as well as all the paper bits and booklets.
