eBay Finds: Pulsar Computers, Baylor Chronographs, & Longines Olympian

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

Vintage Baylor Chronograph

Got some real gems for our readers this week, starting off with a gorgeous vintage Baylor chronograph. The 40mm wide steel case has nice thick lugs, and even though it looks like it has been polished in the past, it still looks solid. The dial is a beauty, jet black with three white chronograph sub dials that are ringed in silver. Nice steel baton hour and minute hands with lime round out the bold look. The crown looks to be original and was signed, but has some wear the logo has worn off. This one is powered by the famous Valjoux 72, the same movement used in the Rolex Newman Daytona chronograph. And this watch will go for a LOT less than a Daytona would cost! Seller states it runs and works properly and was serviced about five years ago.

Bulova Sea King

This vintage Bulova Sea King has a great looks with some unique touches. The case is yellow gold plate, with no wearthrough that I could see. The gold dial is super clean, with a nice radial brushed finish and it has the little Sea King whale logo which I just love. The case looks unpolished with sharp edges and a cool engine turned bezel like the Rolex Thunderbird. This one comes with the original bracelet that is signed with the Bulova logo. The bracelet matches the overall look of the watch perfectly too. The date code on the back of the case dates this one to 1970. Seller states it is in good condition and running well!

Longines Olympian

Next up we have a rare one, a vintage Longines Olympian diver with original bracelet. This design of Longines diver is uncommon, but this one with the “Olympian” name is definitely seldom seen. The case is large, over 40mm if memory serves, and has a unique squarish design with sharply beveled sides. The acrylic diver’s bezel insert is black with red/orange hash marks is in good condition, which is not always the case. The black dial is superb, with applied steel markers and large baton hands, a steel hour and orange minute. The watch is powered by a Longines caliber S652 automatic movement that has a really cool rotor weight that has the Longines winged hourglass logo cut into it. This diver comes with its original JB Champion steel bracelet with a Longines signed buckle. Great and scarce vintage diver!

Gruen Precision Chronograph

Time for another vintage chronograph, this one for those that like a little patina on their vintage watches. This Gruen Precision definitely has that wabi-sabi look with a white dial that shows its age. But the patina is fairly even and gives it that vintage flair for those that enjoy it. The steel case is 37mm wide and in decent shape, again showing its age. The watch is powered by workhorse Valjoux 7730 manual wind movement, a tried and true chronograph if ever there was one. Vintage chronographs are always desirable, but when you have a lesser known brand with patina, the combination should result in a good watch going for a solid price.

Wyler Incaflex

Two vintage chronographs this week, and now a second vintage diver for your bidding pleasure. This vintage Wyler Incaflex has a really cool and unusual look to it. The 35mm steel case is polished, but I honestly don’t know if that’s the original factory finish or not. Either way, the case looks to be in good condition. The black dial is excellent, with cool lume filled applied numerals at 12, 6 and 9 with bold white hash marks around the dial. White lume filled hands and an arrow tipped second hand, along with a date at 3 o’clock round out the design. The acrylic crystal looks original with the internal date magnifier window, and the crown looks original and signed to boot. No movement picture, but that isn’t a surprise as this is a front-loading case. Seller states it runs and keeps time, so it’s ready for someone’s wrist!

Vintage Pulsar Time Computer

It wouldn’t be a proper eBay Finds without a vintage LED now right? And while I don’t always find one, there sure does seem to be quite a few of them up for grabs these days. This one is the classic Pulsar Time Computer P3 with its space age gold plated case and integrated lobster esque bracelet with Pulsar signed buckle. Such a timeless design! The watch is in excellent condition and runs well, it doesn’t get much cooler than this one.
