eBay Finds: Seiko Alarms, an Omega DeVille, & The UG Polerouter

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

Vintage Seiko Automatic Alarm Bell-Matic

You can never go wrong with vintage Seiko, especially when it’s a Bell-Matic alarm! Of course, we all have alarms on our phones, but then again, we also have clocks and we’re wearing watches right? The Bell-Matic alarms are killer, and their little chirping sound is just so cool. This model is an early one, from 1971 and has a nice chunky 70’s style cushion case. The 38mm wide case looks superb and unpolished with the original brushed finish. The crown is unsigned which is correct. The silver dial is super clean and the watch runs and works as it should per the seller. And best of all it comes on its original ‘coffin link’ bracelet, so it’s ready to rock.

Elgin Black Knight

Here’s a rare one for you bidding pleasure, the unique and iconic Elgin Black Knight. This design masterpiece hails from the 1950’s and just screams “Atomic Age” with its distinctive yellow gold fill case and lugs. I don’t even know how to properly describe them, but one look and you know it’s a Black Knight. The 28mm case is in excellent condition, with no wear through. The lugs are the star here, but the wide, flat bezel is quite the beauty too.  It also features a honeycomb textured black dial with incredible gold applied arrow and Art Deco styled Arabic numerals. The crystal is unique as well, as it is cone shaped and pointy in the middle. Seller stated the manual wind movement works properly to boot. This is a rare gem in tip top shape!

Elgin Shockmaster

This Elgin may not be as fancy as the Black Knight above, but it definitely has its own charm. The 35mm steel case is excellent and looks unpolished, and the champagne colored dial has a great vintage look. The outer track of the dial is ribbed bullseye style and the markers are nice thin arrowheads with Arabic numerals at just 12 and 6 which is an unusual but cool look. The crown at 3 o’clock is semi-recessed which is a nice design element. Best of all this is a full kit, with the box, instruction manual and guarantee papers. Always nice to find a clean vintage watch with the full kit.

Universal Geneve Polerouter

Next up is this brilliant Universal Geneve Polerouter Super with original bracelet. When most vintage collectors think of a Polerouter, they think of the iconic Gerald Genta designed models with the inner metal track ring. However, this later model Polerouter Super is just as sweet. The 35mm steel case is crisp and unpolished with the original brushed finish on the fat lugs. The oversized screw down crown is signed as it should be. The deep blue dial does show some patina that you can clearly see in the pictures. While this may not be for everybody, it does look pretty cool and overall the watch is really clean. It even has the original acrylic crystal with the trapezoid shaped date magnifier. The movement is the Microtor caliber 1-69 and looks gorgeous, and works well per the seller. Best of all it comes on the original signed bracelet, which is pretty rare for a Universal Geneve. Great and scarce piece!

Omega Seamaster DeVille

The Omega Seamaster line is seemingly endless with a vast variety of models, including this 1960’s Seamaster DeVille. Not as famous as the classic ‘fat lug’ Seamasters of the 50’s, but nevertheless this is a classic in its own right. The DeVille has a simple steel case with thin lugs, and has nice sharp edges and a bold Hippocampus logo on the back. The silver dial with steel markers is an Omega staple, and for a reason: It looks fantastic, especially with the radial brushed finish! Correct signed crown, and the seller states the acrylic crystal is original and signed with the Omega symbol. Comes with the original Omega beads of rice bracelet, but the seller says it’s very short, so take that into account. That said, extra links shouldn’t be too hard to come by.
