Introducing The Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date In Reed Green

Glashütte Original is expanding their SeaQ Panorama Date collection with their popular reed green colorway. The high-end German diver first used this rich green in the 39.5mm SeaQ range, and now brings it to the larger 43.2mm Panorama Date including the oversized color matched date wheels that give the model its name. The watch retains its signature blend of quirky rugged styling and beautifully presented horology, making it something truly original in a well tread genre.

The SeaQ Panorama Date sets its panoramic date aperture at the bottom right of the dial, creating an asymmetry that builds no small amount of drama around the already less than traditional details. The date display itself comprises two separate discs that rotate around one another, creating a seamless, outsized display. Each rendered in veneer reed green.

The outsized theme continues throughout the dial, with large applied and lumed Arabic numerals appearing at the even hours, and bars at the odd. They pack a visual punch and require a pair of hefty hands to balance them out. Perhaps the most peculiar detail is the large arrow tip of the minute hand that gets its own section of lume. Taken together, the dial is a pretty wild trip. The dark green brings things down to earth, providing a sober base to the star players.

Turning the watch over affords a view of the beautifully finished Glashütte Original caliber 3613, and automatic movement featuring a silicon balance spring, beveled edges, deep Geneva striping, and a whopping 100 hours of reserve. It’s an impressive bit of kit that ultimately separates it from the standard SeaQ, which gets the 39-11 caliber behind a closed caseback.

The SeaQ, and the SeaQ Panorama Date cut a different path around the tool dive watch category, and will likely land in the ‘love it or hate it’ zone for many. Regardless of where you land on the look itself, it’s worth taking a moment of appreciation for the originality exhibited by Glashütte Original here, especially at this price point. What better than showing up to a room full of Subs with one of these on?

As we’ve seen with other SeaQ models the latest example is offered on 3 strap choices that include rubber with a basket weave texture, synthetic cloth, and steel. Pricing starts at $11,500 for the rubber and synthetic, and goes up to $12,400 on steel. Glashütte Original.
