On Kickstarter: The T2 from LTHR Supply

Let’s face it, part of the fun of owning a watch is getting to interact with different complications. From chronographs to moon phases and everything in-between, complications offer a utility that goes beyond simple time keeping. The ability to track an additional time zone (or more) is arguably one of the most useful complications ever created, and it’s certainly one that most watch lovers, nay, most people, can readily appreciate. Who doesn’t work with or know someone who lives in a different time zone?

We have certainly covered GMT watches before, and today we are adding to the list with a unique entry from LTHR Supply. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, LTHR Supply is a company out to make daily use items that are functional yet distinct. Working out of their design studio, LTHR Supply’s ethos is to combine classic shapes and modern design elements. To that end, they have released one watch already, the T1, along with a set of straps. Their second piece, the T2, is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

For basic timekeeping, the watch has a traditional three-hand layout (hours, minutes, seconds). The second time zone, however, is not tracked via a separate hand as is the case with most GMTs. Instead, the dial itself is a rotating disc marked with a triangle to track the additional time zone, which you set with the rotating bezel marked with a 24-hour scale. The disc completes a full rotation once every 24 hours. The face is otherwise sterile, except for the two raised hour and minute scales around the disc. The stick hands are thin and feature lumed tips. The bezel is also lumed.

The specs of the T2 include a 316L stainless steel case with the option rose gold and PVD finishes. The dimensions of the case are 40mm in diameter and 10mm thick; the lugs are 20mm and the straps feature a quick change feature. The watch features an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a water resistance rating of 10ATM.

LTHRSupplyT2_1There are two movement options for the T2. The standard offering is a Swiss Ronda Powertech Caliber 515.24H quartz movement. LTHR previously used this movement with the T1, and decided to stick with it for the T2 to keep the cost down. The second option is an automatic ETA 2893-2, a high-quality Swiss caliber that hasn’t seen much play in recent years given the ETA movement wind down to third parties. This options comes with a surcharge, but it gives those who prefer the choice of a mechanical movement. The watch will come with a strap of your choosing and a two-year warranty.

LTHRSupplyT2_6The LTHR Supply T2 has a funding goal of $30,000 on Kickstarter with the campaign ending Sunday, August 7th at 4:37 PM GMT. The early bird pledges for the Ronda models are still open at $278 USD. The ETA 2893 pledge is $578 for the early birds. The Kickstarter campaign is live now and looking for your contribution to get this uniquely designed dual time watch off the ground.
