Pairs Well With: Defakto Akkord

Vintage watches are all the rage. Whether authentically aged or designed to look it, vintage seems to be the go-to for the well dressed. As such, we’ve done quite a few Pairs Well Withs on watches that speak to a time cooler than our own. Well, enough is enough! Today, we are going to pair some duds with a watch that is unabashedly modern, the Defakto Akkord.

As severe as it is clean, as bold as it is minimal, the Defakto Akkord is a watch for those with an eye for proportion and simplicity. Made in Pforzheim, Germany, the ETA 2824-2 powered automatic will turn heads with its high contrast markers and hold attention with its curious skeleton hour hand. Also featuring a sapphire crystal, display case back and your choice of calf leather strap, at around $550 before shipping, it’s an incredible deal for a German made watch.

To pair with such a particular watch, we went with structural clothing and a monochromatic palette. Sportier than our typical selection, this clothing emphasizes athleticism along side contemporary aesthetics. Like the Akkord, there is more than meets the eye with these choices, the pants for example can take you from the office to a cliff-side thanks to their robust construction and modern materials.
