Pairs Well With: Ollech & Wajs Toledo MKIII Chronograph

There are many different styles of chronograph out there ranging from military (such as the Seagull 1963) to aviation to sport to dress. The Ollech & Wajs Toledo MKIII is a great example of a chrono that straddles the line of sport and dress, making it a versatile watch that also happens to be a pretty good deal. At $950 this watch features a decorated Valjoux 7750 25-jewel automatic chronograph, sapphire crystal and a 39mm x 14mm stainless steel case with fluted sides. The design of the watch has definite retro roots, with “nail-head” chrono pushers, fluted sides, oversized rounded bezel and lugs with an oversized screw detail. The dial is reminiscent of some Sinn models, with a typical 7750 layout, day/date windows, nicely proportioned sub-dials and an easy-to-read lume indexes. The red 60-second chronograph counter adds a nice punch of color that ties to the face together. Simply put, I love the looks of this chrono and think the 39mm size makes it a very easy watch to wear. So, for this Pairs Well With, in the spirit of the Toledo MKIII, we went for a look that is sporty but refined, with undertones of vintage styling and occasional hints of color.
