Time On Track: Episode 14 – Zandvoort

The summer break is behind us, and we return for another episode of Time On Track, covering round 14 of the Formula 1 season in the Netherlands, at the Zandvoort circuit. At this point in the season, there are two things we can come to expect: a Verstappen win, and rain coming into play over the race weekend. As we’ve become accustomed to in recent races, rain did play a role throughout the weekend, and while there were a few predictable effects of this, for the most part, the race ended in somewhat predictable fashion. And that’s a credit to the drivers this week.

As chaotic as the first handful of laps of the race were, things settled into far more familiar territory. Verstappen at the lead, and some familiar faces in the group behind. A somewhat unexpected qualifying session saw the Williams, Mercedes, and McLaren cars looking strong, but the a wet beginning of the race quickly threw that into chaos.

This race marks the return of F1 and we’ll be back next week to discuss round 15 in Italy at the historic Monza circuit. Will the Ferrari cars rise to the occasion? And more importantly, will rain make another appearance over the race weekend… we’ll find out this weekend and return next week to discuss.
