QUICK RELEASE in Partnership with Alexander James Watches

Alexander James Watches’ New Release is a Good Omen

It’s a story as old as time itself. A man is gifted a watch. He starts looking up watches on the Internet. He discovers Seiko modding. He becomes enamored with building and customizing watches. He starts designing and selling watch parts, eventually becoming a full-time business. This business eventually became Alexander James Watches, and they are currently preparing to launch their latest timepiece. They have a simple mission: to create and share high-quality, beautiful watches with the world. Their new A3 Omen takes this mission to the next level.

Previously, Alexander James used the reliable Seiko NH movements for all its automatic watches. However, for its latest model, it has chosen to upgrade to the higher-end Miyota 9039 movement, which led to many other enhancements. The case and bracelet are much more refined, with multiple chamfered edges and finishing you would typically find on watches with one more zero on the price tag. They have even incorporated the next generation of their snowflake texture into their dials. The pattern is pressed more lightly with this new technique, creating a subtle effect, especially from a distance.

The Omen A3’s stainless steel case has a diameter of 38mm, a lug-to-lug measurement of 46mm, and a thickness of only 10.4mm. Those numbers should satisfy most collectors, as this watch should fit any wrist size and shape with ease. The case back is solid, tastefully engraved, and screwed down, as is the crown, providing a water resistance of 100 meters. The stainless steel bracelet measures 20mm between the lugs and tapers down to 16mm at the quick-open clasp, which includes an easy-to-use micro-adjust system.

There are three dial options, and we really do mean options, as there is much more here than just a color difference. The first option is light blue with the snowflake texturing mentioned above. Aventurine is currently having a moment in watchmaking, and it can be found as dial option number two. Option number three is where things get interesting, and it’s something we have never seen before. It is a waffle-patterned green mother of pearl. Yes, you read that correctly, and pictures, even remarkable ones, cannot do this dial justice. The dials feature BGW9 Super-LumiNova for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

All A3 Omen watches will be hand-assembled, regulated to -10/+10 sec per day, and tested in Chicago, IL, USA. Pre-order pricing is $625, with shipping to commence in October 2024. Once it’s ready to ship, the price will increase to $650. Either way, we believe this is a mission accomplished. For more information, please visit the Alexander James Watches website.
