QUICK RELEASE in Partnership with Bauche Watches

Explore the Layered Stargazer Carina Nebula Series from Bauche Watches

Singapore-based Bauche is an independent watch company that derives its name from the horological term “ebauche.” They embody a timepiece designed to narrate a story as time passes. Their watches draw inspiration from everyday items and occupations, as well as celestial bodies thousands of lightyears away, to infuse a unique story into each timepiece. They strive to redefine what is possible with a creative touch, offering watches that serve as conversation starters and make a lasting impression in your collection. Their latest Kickstarter campaign, the Stargazer Carina Nebula Collection, will launch on October 18th, 2024, at 11:00 am NYC time.

What is a Nebula? A nebula is a distinct luminescent part of the interstellar medium, consisting of ionized, neutral, or molecular hydrogen and cosmic dust. Nebulae are often regions where stars are formed. In these regions, gas, dust, and other materials come together to form denser regions, which attract further matter and eventually become dense enough to form stars. The remaining material is then thought to form planets and other objects in planetary systems.

The Carina Nebula is a large, intricate area of bright and dark nebulosity in the Carina constellation. It is situated in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way galaxy and is approximately 8,500 light-years from Earth. This incredible phenomenon is the direct inspiration for their inaugural collection, as seen through the James Webb Space Telescope. Each dial consists of three layers of different materials, like how the gases and other materials overlap in space. Brilliant mother-of-pearl stones, IP-plated guilloche, and IP-plated meteorite stones are layered to form the one-of-a-kind dial.

There are six dial color variations. Dark Cosmic, Silver Surfer, Cosmic Purple, Cosmic Green, Cosmic Blue, and Coffee & Cream. The cases are crafted from highly corrosion-resistant 904L stainless steel, measuring 41mm in diameter, 47mm from lug to lug, and 12.95mm thick. A flat piece of anti-reflective coated sapphire glass protects the dials. Beneath all that, there is an up-market automatic Miyota caliber 9133. This movement ticks away at 28,800 alternations per hour and has a 40-hour power reserve, which can be tracked by the indicator at 9 o’clock.

The Stargazer Carina Nebula timepiece has a futuristic laser-etched space helmet on its case back, which is secured with screws to provide water resistance to a depth of 120 meters. Each timepiece comes with a leather strap featuring a matching steel pin buckle. Interested enthusiasts can see the collection in the metal at the Microbrand Fair Spring Sprang Sprung taking place in Singapore from October 18 through October 20, in conjunction with their Kickstarter campaign. Starting at $855, learn more about the Carina Nebula Collection at the Bauche website.
