While the primary movement offering from Jack Mason, since its founding in 2015, has been Japanese quartz with some automatics sprinkled into the mix, they always had a keen eye for design and kept the styles timeless, versatile, and fairly priced. Now, they are at it again by launching a new dive watch, the Hydrotimer, which is based off the Strat-o-timer platform. As Jack Mason evolves the brand towards an enthusiast customer, their goal with the Hydrotimer is to establish an instant classic and icon for the brand.

From Peter Cho, Co-Founder and Designer, “We wanted to create a watch where value was offered beyond a spec sheet. How do we create another dive watch that was beautiful in design, but provided a better quality of watch life? How do we exploit our strength in design and experience in the industry to create a compelling package altogether?”
Their solution came down to 3 main points: Scratch resistance coating, Regulate the movements in-house, and American Assembly. The bezel is a uni-directional 120-click sapphire bezel. Two models feature BGW9 Swiss Superluminova covering the entire surface. The white dial features a matte finish and is complemented with gunmetal indices and hands. The navy dial features the same finish with silver indices and hands. Powered by a regulated Miyota 9039 automatic movement, the Hydrotimer is robust as it is good looking featuring a scratch resistant coating up to 1200 HV.
The Hydrotimer boasts an impressive +/- 5 seconds per day from the Miyota 9039 and is regulated after the movement is assembled into the watch here in the US. With robust features, the Hydrotimer is truly designed to be the everyday watch. The Hydrotimer Dive Watch is available for pre-order now starting at $889 on the Jack Mason site. The watch is expected to ship in late summer 2023.
