The Eye of Horus Inspires the Latest from CIGA Design

Founded in 2016, CIGA Design is driven by innovation and a desire to push boundaries to transcend the norms of conventional design. Taking inspiration from the Bauhaus philosophy that “form follows function”, CIGA Design adheres to the belief that less is more, seamlessly integrating contemporary design language into each timepiece they create.

The latest release from CIGA Design is inspired by the Eye of Horus, a mystic symbol of revitalizing power in ancient Egypt that survives to this day. According to ancient Egyptian mythology, Horus, son of the God, Osiris, and the Goddess, Isis, lost his right eye in a struggle. The eye was magically restored and transformed into his source of strength in battle. 

The Eye of Horus is therefore seen as a symbol of healing, strength, and luck. Artistically reconstructed from this emblem of mystical power and given a contemporary makeover, the “Eye of Horus” second hand is powered by the movement, with energy transmitted through a crown adorned with obsidian, a protective stone known for its healing properties, and evocatively complemented by the X-shape dial and case. 

The specifications of the watch are equally unique to the design principles of CIGA Design. The case size measures at 47.3 mm x 48.0 mm x 12.1 mm in a durable, eco-friendly bioceramic. A mineral glass is used for both the back and front of the watch with a 7.5 mm diameter crown. Three skeleton hands with green lume include a pyramid-shaped second hand, again incorporating the Eye of Horus.

Delivered with a 22.0 mm silicone strap on quick-release spring bars, the Eye of Horus contains an automatic movement developed by CIGA Design with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours, 21,600 Vph movement frequency, 24 jewels, and -15~+30 seconds/24 hours accuracy.
