This week, MAEN debuted their latest release, a collaboration with YouTuber Nico Leonard. The MAEN Jump Hour x Nico Leonard features a classic mechanical jump hour complication, with the current hour displayed via an aperture near the top of the dial, and the minutes below (you’ll also find Leonard’s “Pride and Pinion” logo just under the minute aperture). Sundance’s New Home: Boulder, Colorado
Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the United States has announced a new location, starting in 2027. After more than forty years of calling Park City, Utah “home”, the Sundance Institute felt that they had outgrown the city and began a year long search for a new home. While over 100 locations indicated they were interested in hosting, it was ultimately decided to move from Utah to Boulder, Colorado. Citing “small-town charm with an engaged community, distinctive natural beauty, and a vibrant arts scene” as reasons for the choice, the Institute calls Boulder “the ideal location for the Festival to grow”.
Neil Armstong’s Commemorative Speedmaster Hits The Auction Block
By now, I think it’s safe to assume almost anyone reading knows the story of how the Omega Speedmaster became the “MoonWatch” (but you can learn more here if needed). Well, following the successful Apollo XI landing Omega made a commemorative edition, Ref. BA 145.022, in 18K gold, limited to 100 pieces. Of these 100, the first 28 were reserved for President Nixon, VP Shapiro, and 26 of the astronauts in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. While some of these watches have come up for auction over the years, Neil Armstrong’s personal piece (number 17) is currently up for grabs. Judging from the pictures, it’s clear that Neil Armstong wore this watch quite frequently given its extensive patina. The auction currently sits at $266K and is estimated to fetch over 2 million dollars, with half of the final price being donated to charity.
