worn&wound Enters WatchVille

About a month ago, Kevin Rose, known for being the co-founder of Digg, partner at Google Ventures and serial entrepreneur, with his mobile software company North Technologies, released WatchVille. WatchVille is an app available on both iOS and Android that aggregates a handful of select watch blogs into a single, easy to digest list.  As you might have guessed, Kevin is also a watch collector, and our colleagues over at Hodinkee interviewed him about his growing (and admittedly luxurious) collection and interest in the genre, which you should check out (and take note of that spiffy watch roll he’s using). But why I am writing about this now rather than a month ago? Well, as of 9am today, worn&wound will be one of those blogs, and we’re super excited about it.

WatchVille has huge potential and is a sign of the growing popularity, especially in the states, of watches. It was only a few years ago, when we were just testing the waters with w&w, that there were really only a small handful of decent places to go; a couple of blogs and a few forums. Now, there are many sites with good content, all exploring interesting facets of this little obsession of ours. WatchVille gives people a fast and easy way to access daily articles from the most popular blogs, making it a better experience for you, the reader.

Adding some functionality beyond aggregation, WatchVille makes it simple for you to share posts to social media and customize your feed. You can also manually select which blogs you wish to see. Lastly, WatchVille also has a powerful clock for you to set your watches to. You might say…isn’t my phone/computer/ipad/etc… accurate enough? Well, what WatchVille’s clock does is check the time at several servers and averages them for a potentially truer time. It also has a moon-phase indicator, which doesn’t hurt. Oh, and naturally, WatchVille is free to download and use!

Now, if you happen upon this article via WatchVille and are new to worn&wound, never mind its meta nature, and welcome to w&w! We hope you’ll find our approach to watches enjoyable and refreshing as we delve into accessibly priced timepieces, new and old, with an eye for design and quality.
