DP Review Dives into an Exciting new Fujifilm Camera

The latest from Fujifilm is generating a lot of conversation among photographers and videographers alike for its slick design and impressive feature set. The just announced GFX 100 II is a medium format camera that features loads of new tech, like an AI based autofocus system that quickly recognizes potential subjects, and a 102 MP BSI CMOS 44x33mm medium format sensor. Best of all, this camera shares a body style with the much loved GFX 100S, prized for its easy to handle small size, but with many of the technical features of the original GFX 100. DP Review has a detailed breakdown of the new camera right here, which seems to offer a ton of value even at the high asking price of $7,500.

Panerai Launches an All New, Wide Ranging Navy SEALs Collection

For the first time ever, a new collection of Panerais made in partnership with the Navy SEALs will be available internationally, with a selection of watches offering something for professional divers, daring adventurers, and connoisseurs of finely crafted timepieces.

The Luminor Marina Navy SEALs PAM01412 is a re-edition of an iconic Panerai model in a finishing that lends every timepiece a unique character. Every 44mm Brunito steel case is finished by hand, lending a weathered look to the timepiece. The collaboration continues with two Luminor Chrono references, PAM01409 in a 44mm steel Brunito case and PAM01419 in a 44mm CarboTechTM case. The high end CarboTech comes together when thin sheets of carbon fibers are compressed at a controlled temperature under high pressure together with a high-end polymer, PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), which binds the composite material, making it stronger and more durable.

From the Submersible collection, Panerai offers the PAM01323 features a 44m steel case and bezel, contrasting beautifully with the shaded grainy black dial. The dial is darker at the perimeter than at its center, with large dots and golden yellow color accents on each hand and the numerals in the date window, making it highly legible. Finally, Panerai introduces the PAM01402, the Experience Edition: Submersible Chrono Navy SEALs, where every watch owner will be invited to participate in an immersive thematic Special Operations Experience. Set in a 47mm steel Brunito case with a ceramic disc on the bezel and a rubber crown, the timepiece has a shaded black dial that features the ‘Navy SEALs’ inscription and target-inspired small seconds sub-dial. The Final Trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon is Here

The ongoing strikes by the acting and writing unions have had a dramatic impact on the fall release for new movies, with a number of Oscar contenders and would-be box office successes being pushed back to 2024 in the hope that the strikes will be resolved, allowing movie stars to promote their work. But Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon is still on schedule, and is due for a wide release in October. This latest, final trailer for the film is markedly different from the first one we saw, and conveys a more brutal and intense film than what some might have been expecting. It’s been one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year by many, and, at least at this point, appears to be ready to be seen by the masses very soon, strike or not.

Jann Wenner Reflects on Baby Boomers Ahead of His New Book

After Jann Wenner founded Rolling Stone, it became something of a Bible to an entire generation of baby boomers, covering the counterculture from their own perspective, highlighting the music and art that was of interest to them in a way that traditional media would never attempt. Over the years, Rolling Stone has changed dramatically. It’s less a symbol of the counterculture these days, and more of a giant corporate entity, and its scope has shifted dramatically. In this piece by David Marchese in the New York Times, he finds Wenner reflecting on the impact of his generation, as he launches a new project, a book of interviews with major recording artists during his tenure at the magazine.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman Head into a Record Breaking 22nd Season in the Broadcast Booth

The 2023 NFL season began last week, and it marks the 22nd season of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman leading coverage of the Fox broadcast, one of the most events on TV every week during the football season. Their partnership had unlikely beginnings at a point in time when both of their careers were in a very different state. Buck was a young star at Fox, the son of a legendary play-by-play man whose shoes few thought he could fill, and Aikman had only recently retired, a three time Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys. In this Ringer article, Bryan Curtis looks at the full scope of their partnership in and out of the broadcast booth as Buck and Aikman pass John Madden and Pat Summerall as the longest serving NFL broadcast team.
