worn&wound Seeks More Writers!

Dear intrepid readers of worn&wound,

Over the last 2 years, we’ve grown an awful lot. We’ve launched a store, we went to Basel, we’ve upgraded our website (more than once) and we’ve kept steadfast on reviewing, in-depth, the accessibly priced watches you actually want to buy. And…we have no plans on stopping or slowing down. In fact, this letter to you is for the opposite purpose; we are looking to add new writers to our team.

Writing for w&w is not a walk in the park. Our articles are detailed, passionate and informed. We look for an enthusiasm that goes above and beyond the casual watch buyer. We want nerds: obsessive, watch-crazy nerds. You think about watches everyday, you read about watches everyday. You browse sales sites, ebays and forums looking for your next watch. You toil over your decisions. You change your watch at least once a day. You have boxes of straps. You have favorite movements. You love new watches, old watches, weird watches, cheap watches, unobtainable watches… you just love watches.

And, you love to write. You have to be able to convey your fervor through words as well as properly communicate the values and features of the watches themselves. You should be able to find that inexplicable detail that makes a particular watch more interesting than others and illuminate it through prose. You need to be able to dig into a watch’s history, get a sense of people’s reactions from forums, to become an expert on every watch and brand you write about.

If that sounds like you or someone you know… then please apply!

Specifically, we are looking for a couple of people who can write 300 – 1500 word posts on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. (length/topic depending). We are looking for people who can bring new ideas to the table, brainstorm with us on column and article concepts, as well as take editorial direction and pump out the occasional last minute piece. Ideally, you are an experienced writer with articles to share.

Reliability and punctuality are paramount. We pay for posts, so we expect the utmost professionalism.

Bonus skills:

  • camera savvy (we’re super picky about photography)
  • fashion forward (do you think a lot about style and how watches work with what you wear? read fashion blogs/magazines)
  • advanced technical knowledge (do you take watches apart and put them back together? Do you or have you worked in the watch industry?)
  • near NYC (not a skill and not a deal breaker by any means, but if you are near or in NYC let us know, that way we can meet in person and talk watches over beers)

So! If you are interested please email zach(at)wornandwound(dot)com with a letter about yourself and some writing samples. We can’t wait to hear from you and bring you on board!

– the w&w team
