Introducing the Redesigned C5 Malvern Automatic MK III and C3 Chronograph MK III from Christopher Ward

It’s easy for a successful company to keep doing what they’ve always done, to idle rather than to experiment or improve. But that’s not what Christopher Ward, a brand well known to worn&wound readers, is about. In an effort to refine and redefine their craft and to continue the trajectory they set on last year, Christopher Ward is launching a complete redesign of their bestselling Malvern Collection—first launched in 2005—with two new watches.

C5 Malvern Automatic MK III

The first is the C5 Malvern Automatic MK III. The fully polished stainless steel case and elegant dial is styled as a go-to dress watch. At 39mm wide and 9.9mm high, the C5 Malvern Automatic MK III is sized perfectly to be worn with a suit.

The domed dials—which feature some beautiful circular detailing—are available in either sunray white or sunray blue. The dials feature circular dish detailing and raised machine-slanted indexes serve as hour markers. Depending on the model you choose, the hour, minute and second hands will be available in either brushed or blue steel. A beveled date window is located at three, and the dial sits below an anti-reflective double domed sapphire crystal.

C3 Malvern Chronograph MK III

The second watch being released is the C3 Malvern Chronograph MK III. The C3 measures 39mm wide and 10.8mm high and features of mix of brushed and polished surfaces. Like the C5, it’s elegantly sized.

One look and you can tell that Christopher Ward was inspired by all things automotive when designing the watch. It has many of the classic racing watch components—piston-inspired pushers, sub-dials to track timing and dashboard-like minute markers.Christopher Ward Malvern c3 chronograph MK IIICustomers can choose between a black, white and blue dial, all domed like the C5. The stacked 12 o’clock sub-dial serves as a dual 30-minute/12-hour counter. The six o’clock sub-dial is a small seconds counter. A small date window is located at the three o’clock position. Powering the watch is a Swiss-made Ronda 3520.D quartz movement.
