Bruce Lee’s Universal Genève Polerouter Auctioned by Phillips

Bruce Lee occupies a space in the minds of martial arts film fans that no one else can touch. The star of such films as Enter the Dragon and Fist of Fury, Lee, at one point in his life, was one of the biggest movie stars in the world and a true icon.

Over the weekend, Phillips auctioned off Lee’s Universal Genève Polerouter, and it might just be the most valuable Polerouter ever sold. The hammer fell at $28,700 for a truly unique Bruce Lee collectible.

The watch itself was a gift from Lee to his longtime student, Herb Jackson, whose son provided a letter certifying its authenticity. The most distinguishing characteristic of the watch might be the unusual braided bund watch strap. Lee was fond of wearing his watches on this type of strap. It gives the Polerouter, a watch that is often prized by collectors for its classic and elegant dress watch proportions, a much more substantial and sporty look, completely fitting for a martial arts legend.

More information on the sale of this very special Polerouter can be found on Asian news and lifestyle journal Coconuts here. The sale was also covered by SJX here.

It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay.
