CronotempVs Collectors Debuts Collaboration With Ball Watch & Co.

Since 2009, CronotempVs Collectors has provided a space for members of their club to connect with one another and share their enthusiasm for all things horology. The private collector’s club has come a long way since then, with an ever growing community of members spread across 18 different countries and a long list of their very own exclusive collaborative watches with prominent brands that include the likes of A. Lange & Söhne, Speake-Marin and URWERK. CronotempVs Collectors has also partnered up with Oris and independent brands such as Habring and Zeitwinkel on watches that aren’t just limited to the club, but available to the entire watch community. In their latest collaborative project, they’ve tapped into the railroad inspired tool watch manufacturer, Ball Watch & Co.

The new release by CronotempVs Collectors and Ball Watch & Co. is dubbed the 00Red. The double zeros not only signify the moment when the time hits midnight, but also the time when Ball Watch & Co.’s signature tritium gas tubes are fully on display. The 00Red contains a total of 33 tritium gas tubes that comprise the hour markers, numerals and lumination on the hands. The lume technology on Ball Watch & Co.’s watches are really something to behold in person, as the lume is invariably on, day or night.

The 00Red at first glance has the sporty look with its 3, 6, 9 layout and the double zeros demarcating 12 o’clock. The 00Red follows a similar color palette we’ve seen in the previous CronotempVs Collectors releases to the public which come in a very toned down gray contrasted with red accents. The same goes here for the 00Red, as the dial plate is embellished in an anthracite gray and possesses a subtle grainy texture. Red accents are seen surrounding the double zeros on the dial and on the double zeros in the chapter ring, as well as the seconds hand tip. CronotempVs Collectors opted to go sans date for this specific model, diverting away from the date functionality seen throughout the Engineer III range.

The 00Red uses the case form of Ball Watch & Co’s Engineer III that blends the lines of sport and refinement. The 00Red is made to be a hard wearing everyday watch and this one stays true to the robust nature that is at the core of every Ball Watch & Co. product. The 00Red comes encased in a 904L steel (antimagnetic properties and more corrosive resistant than 316L) and boasts 5,000 Gs of shock resistance. Each watch that leaves the manufacturer goes through a variety test including an impact test at several points throughout the case to ensure it follows the qualifications of an ISO 1413 grading. Supplementing the antimagnetic properties of the case is a shield made out of Mumetal that encases the 00Red mechanical movement. Mumetal is a mixture of alloys that have a high magnetic permeability, which attracts low-frequency magnetic lines, deviating any sort of magnetic disruption from the movement.

At the core of the 00RED is Ball Watch & Co.’s automatic caliber RR1102-C. The movement is a modified ETA 2836-2 equipped with a certified chronometer rating and is expected to be accurate within -4/+6 seconds a day. Factor in the 100 meter WR rating, the 00Red is CronotempVs Collectors interpretation of an everyday tool watch. The 00Red marks yet another addition to their list of collaborations and these inclusive projects that are attainable will not only encourage watch brands, big and small, to collaborate with watch enthusiasts, but expand the reach of the CronotempVs Collector community and shed light on what a membership to their club has to offer.

The 00Red is limited to just 91 pieces and comes with a price tag of € 2,200 excluding taxes.
