eBay Finds: Chronographs, Divers, and All the LED Watches You Could Ever Want

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

Vintage Hamilton LED

Starting off this week with a bang with this killer full kit vintage Hamilton model QED IX LED watch. This super-futuro looking gold plated watch is the epitome of the 1970’s LED watches. The wide case tapes to a narrow integrated link bracelet that is signed with the Hamilton logo. The case and bracelet appear to be in great shape with little wear. The watch runs and works well, keeping time per the seller. Best of all, this beauty comes with the full, and I do mean full, kit. Inner and outer boxes, instructions, warranty, hang tags and even the original sales receipt from 1976…..Boom!

Timex Sport Diver

Here we have a great little vintage Timex diver that will be easy on the wallet. Vintage divers can get quite pricey, so it’s nice to find one like this that looks great but won’t break the bank. This Timex has a chrome plated base metal case with uniquely shaped hidden lugs. The chrome plating is excellent, with very little wear except the crown, which is quite common. The black dial has applied metal markers with cool red squares painted in them for an unusual look. The elapsed time diver’s bezel is three quarters red and one quarter black for the classic “Coke” bezel look, and it’s in really nice shape. Seller states it runs well and keeps time.

Novus Red LED

Time for another sweet vintage LED! I just love these vintage digital watches, especially the LED’s. I remember having one as a kid and it was the coolest thing, and quite frankly they are still the coolest. This one is a Novus in stainless steel with an integrated bracelet that is signed “Novus” on the buckle. The chunky, 36mm wide cushion shaped case is excellent, with nice sharp edges and still showing the original brushed finish. This one is clean and simple, and downright awesome. Plus it’s in steel which is less common for a lot of these vintage LED watches.

Seiko 6139

Next we have a true classic, a vintage Seiko 6139-6005 chronograph. The Seiko 6139 is a highly sought after chronograph made famous by William Pogue, who wore a yellow dialed version on his mission to pilot Skylab in the early 1970’s. While the yellow dial gets most of the press, there were several other variants, including this nice blue dialed one. The dial and hands are clean, and the internal rotating bezel has faded to that nice “ghost bezel” look. The case is sharp and unpolished with the original brushed finish. Everything looks correct and original, including the correct H-link bracelet. These 6139’s are increasingly hard to find in unmolested, all original condition, so if you’ve been pining for one, here’s your chance!

Longines-Wittnauer Polara LED

What’s better than two vintage LED watches on an edition of eBay Finds?? Three vintage LEDs! When it rains, it pours, and this week it’s raining LEDs. Here we have another full kit with this fantastic vintage Longines-Wittnauer Polara. The gold case with integrated bracelet (which looks very much like the Hamilton above) is in superb condition with almost no wear visible. The integrated bracelet is signed and likewise in great shape. This one comes with the inner and outer boxes, as well as the instruction/warranty booklet and a sticker with the original price of $275 (NOT cheap for back then!). Working well and looking sharp, this gem is ready to enjoy!

Aquadive ‘666’

Finally we go back to analog diver goodness with this gorgeous blue Aquadive diver. The chunky 38.5mm oval case looks unpolished with nice edges and original brushed finish. The blue crosshair dial looks good, with perfectly aged lume on the hour markers, but there is some patina starting to show. There is a day/date window at three, and classic white stick hands with a lollipop second hand. The elapsed time bezel is a beautiful blue color, and is concave which is unusual and a fantastic look. Seller states the watch runs a keeps time, so you’re good to go!
