eBay Finds: Vintage Chronographs & LED Screens

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

Vintage Sheffield

First up this week is a sweet vintage Sheffield “panda” dial chronograph. This gem has a 38mm chrome plated case that is in great shape, with almost no pitting and nice sharp edges. The dial is silver with black sub dials, and it looks fantastic, with clean steel stick hands and a bright orange chronograph seconds hand. This one is powered by the ubiquitous work horse Valjoux 7733 manual wind movement that is clean and runs well per the seller. Vintage chronographs are highly sought after, and “no-name” examples like this Sheffield can go for a very reasonable price, even with a well made and well known movement like the Valjoux 7733. Great chance to get a nice vintage chronograph without breaking the bank.

Vintage Wittnauer

Here’s a gorgeous vintage Wittnauer with an amazing dial. The simple white dial has super cool faceted applied steel hour markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12, with no date, and simple little dots for the minutes. Big lume filled steel dauphine hands compliment the look. The 33.5mm steel case looks unpolished with nice sharp edges and stylish curved lugs. The original crown is signed with the Wittnauer “W” logo. The manual wind movement is clean and runs well per the seller. Really clean looking vintage sporty dress watch that is in superb condition and has loads of vintage style.

Le Jour Chronograph

Next up is a nice vintage LeJour chronograph. The large, 41mm cushion shaped steel case is excellent and looks unpolished with sharp edges and the original brushed finish. The jet black dial is in great shape, with a day/date window at 3 and three chronograph subdials. There is a large tachymeter ring around the dial making the watch look even larger than it is. It comes on a brushed steel bracelet that is unsigned but sure looks like it’s the original one. Even if it’s not, it looks the part. This chrono is powered by the Valjoux 7750 movement, and even though there is no picture of it, the seller states it runs and works properly. Nice chunky chronograph that will have lots of wrist presence.

Vintage Oris

This vintage Oris watch may not be New Old Stock as the title states, but it is could be and is certainly in fantastic condtion. The gold plate case is super shiny with crisp edges, definitely unpolished. Check out those slim angled lugs! The silver dial has nice applied gold tone hour markers and a trapezoidal date window at 3. Big gold stick hands complete the look. The crown is original and signed “Oris”. The watch comes on really stylish partial stretch bracelet that is most likely original although it is not signed. A really nice touch is this one comes with the original Oris hangtag, something you don’t see often. The seller states the watch runs, but no movement picture.

Bulova LED Computron

I can’t always find a killer vintage LED watch for you folks, but this week we have a sweet one! This Bulova Computron is an absolute beauty. This is the model that Bulova re-released as a Heritage model a few years back, but the OG is always the best. This example is in yellow gold, and the case is in exceptional condition. Often these are beaten to a pulp, but not this one. Even the correct, signed matching yellow gold bracelet is in great shape. The watch runs and the LED screen has all segments lighting up. If you’ve been pining for one of these, here’s your chance!

Vintage Zodiac Chronograph

Finishing up this week’s edition with another vintage chronograph, this time a really clean looking Zodiac. The 35mm chrome plated case is excellent with no pitting that I can see, and has a steel back. The pushers are old school flat pushers, giving it an older appearance than it is. The silver dial is a beauty, with nice big bilateral subdials. The steel hands are lume filled, but there is a bit of lume missing from the minute hand. This one looks a bit like the famous Heuer Carrera, but will no doubt go for a lot less than the Heuer would. The watch is powered by a Landeron 248 movement that is clean and works properly per the seller. I mean, how can you go wrong with this looker?
