Just about two years ago, we launched our very first collaboration watch in partnership with AVI-8. It was a great project, so we did it again the next year with V2 of that watch, changing up the styling and accessories. Well, for our third limited edition collaboration watch we decided to do things differently and teamed up with our friends at Brew Watches to make something really cool.
This project started when Jonathan of Brew Watches put one of our American-made High Craft – Vintage straps on his HP-1 model. The shape of our strap, with its 4mm taper, domed profile, row stitching, painted edges and hand-made look and feel was a perfect match for the watch, so we knew we had to do something together. We threw some ideas around, quickly coming to making the dial copper-colored. An uncommon hue, it’s warm and rich, but, like bronze, not overly precious like a gold-tone would have been.
Additionally, we added a concentric circle texture to the dial, radiating out from the center. Unlike typical graining, the lines are wide and deep, giving the dial a cool, industrial feel. This was a subtle nod to Brew’s conceptual source material of coffee making equipment, and further differentiates it from the normal model. The result of mixing the copper color with the graining is striking, giving the watch a whole new attitude.
