Stirling Timepieces Teams up with the Green Beret Foundation on a Bespoke Watch

There is a sense of authenticity with Stirling Timepieces that cannot be replicated through marketing gimmicks or manufactured storytelling. Since 2021, the brand, founded by former British Army soldier Thomas Stafford, has been made its name by building focused, rugged watches whose designs are often directly influenced by active military and professionals. That’s what makes them the perfect partner to the Green Beret Foundation, an organization on a mission to support and connect current and past Green Berets and their families. Back in July, the Foundation commissioned Stirling to build a special, limited version of the Stirling Durrant Black & White. As we will soon understand, however, the full impact of this collaboration goes beyond just a new timepiece.

This Durrant Black & White is quintessential Stirling. It is 42mm x 51mm of black DLC-coated 316L steel in a dive watch format, and it’s entirely a no-nonsense look. The matching ceramic bezel, as well as the hour markers and hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility no matter the mission. A sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, and 200 meters of water resistance are, frankly, standard fare for a stealthy, mission-focused watch that was conceived with input from military personnel. One particular feature stands out for good reason: the WWII “Jedburg Wings” logo at six o’clock. Worn by an elite international group of special forces, this Special Force insignia was the identifier for American, British, and French personnel who assisted with various resistance forces in Central Europe. It is a unique design touch that is exclusive to this limited edition.

The specialized design decisions don’t end there; each limited edition is custom-engraved on the caseback and includes a complimentary Stirling x Green Beret Foundation challenge coin. While the partnership between Stirling and the Green Beret Foundation resulted in this special watch, it was perhaps even more impressive what this timepiece achieved. Upon release, the project and model raised over $30,000 that directly funds veteran rehabilitation, transition, and family support programs. It’s a clear indication that a charitable model like Stirling’s (the brand donates proceeds from every watch sale) is a sustainable way to build a strong brand while making an impact.

It is arguable that the reason wristwatches exist at all is thanks to the service of men and women in the line of duty, Special Forces and otherwise. By acknowledging and celebrating their services and supporting them and their families, Stirling and The Green Beret Foundation set an example of how to build a good watch while doing good. For the rest of November this year, and in lieu of traditional holiday sales and discounts, Stirling will be observing Benevolent Friday and Charity Monday initiatives through which donations are doubled for each sale.
