James Barkman’s 30,000 Mile Adventure Along The Pan-American Highway

Via James Barkman

Here on WSG, we’re suckers for a good story and a proper adventure. Recently we came across a relatively new podcast called Seager Storytime produced by the folks behind the old west grit inspired apparel company, Seager Co. On episode 2 of the podcast, the guys hosted the talented photographer and mountaineer James Barkman. Barkman goes into detail about how he got into photography, climbing mountains and the journey that ultimately led to his 30,000 mile adventure along the Pan-American Highway. Between the obstacles of riding a motorcycle for a little more than a year straight, encounters with avalanches at high altitudes and the lengths that Barkman went to get the right photo, his journey has it all. Listen to his full story on the Seager Storytime podcast and if you want some great imagery from this adventure, check out his feature article on Iron & Air.

The Polestar O2

Via Road & Track / Polestar

Polestar has quickly built a reputation for producing some of the most arresting designs in the automotive space thanks to their head of design, Maximilian Missoni and of course, the brand’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, a renowned designer himself. The Polestar O2 is a vision of the newly independent(ish) brand’s future, and it is stunning. The O2 is a concept 2 seater electric sports car, and looks decidedly un-electric in its approach. The angular body adheres to the strong design codes already established with the Polestar brand (a very good thing), and it even comes with an integrated drone so you can see exactly how cool you look while driving it. Just how that will work or whether or not it sees the light of day in a production model remains to be seen, but in the meantime, gaze upon the beauty that is the Polestar O2.

Bullet Train Trailer

Sometimes a movie trailer comes along and it gives you such a good sense of what the movie is (hopefully) about, that you just can’t wait to see it. The full length preview for Bullet Train dropped this week, and the highly anticipated action movie starring Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, and more looks like pure fun. Brad Pitt appears to play an assassin after a briefcase on board a high speed train, but naturally he runs into all sorts of obstacles, and it appears that absolute mayhem is bound to ensue. The colorful cinematography and a Japanese version of “Stayin’ Alive” that plays throughout the clip certainly makes us want to rewatch this preview a bunch of times to catch all the little details. Bullet Train hits theaters in July.

What Happened To That Burning Ship Filled With Porsches & Volkswagens?

Via CBS News

You might remember that a couple of weeks ago, we mentioned a ship with a cargo full of luxury vehicles caught fire in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and had to be entirely evacuated. Sadly the ship named the Felicity Ace sank this past week during an effort to tug it to shore. One of our concerns that we had mentioned was the potential pollution this would cause in the ocean if the 200 meter long ship capable of carrying 17,000 metric tons of cargo were to go down. It seems like the after effects are going to be manageable as the Portuguese Navy reports that only a few pieces of the wreckage has returned to the surface, as well as a “small” patch of oil which was broken up by a hose water supply on the tugboats in the surrounding area. There are enough crazy events going on right now in the world and a major oil spill in the middle of the Atlantic are among the last things we need. The Portuguese Navy will continue to stay on the scene to make sure there are no other repercussions as a result of the Felicity Ace sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

eBay Finds: Vintage SEIKO Automatic Sport Diver Watch 6106 6057 6106-6059R 6059 SS

Via eBay user: ten-cent-tycoon

The vintage Seiko Sport diver has become increasingly popular, and increasingly hard to find in original condition. This 1970 6106-6057 model looks all original and correct. The black dial looks clean with none of the black funk that is commonly found on these vintage sport models. The large cushion shaped steel case is unpolished, and does show some light wear. The original Hardlex crystal has scratches, but there are NOS crystals out there as well as reproduction crystals if you so choose to replace it. The internal rotating bezel is a cool touch on these models, and this one looks to be in excellent shape. This example even comes with the original Seiko folded link oyster-style bracelet. Seller states the watch runs and keeps time. Yes, this one shows some of its age and use, but like I said, these are getting really hard to find and with the lume on the dial and hands being so nice, you’d be hard pressed to find another in this kind of shape any time soon.
