Retro Gaming Inspired EDC
Whether you’re matching a few pieces or building out an entire carry, choosing a theme can make those decisions just a tiny bit easier. Our good friends over at Tactile Turn and Tactile Knife, fueled by 90’s nostalgia, have crafted up two new pieces for your retro inspired EDC. As part of their “Seasonal Release” series, Tactile Turn created the “16-Bit” pen and pencil, a worthy successor to their 2023 8-bit release. Built from their titanium models, both the pen and pencil feature a grey cerakoted body with purple cerakoted accents, reminiscent of the SNES console, a custom engraved “scope” pocket clip, and “Eject” engraved near the pen release / lead advancement button. Complementing these models is a limited release Bexar slipjoint from Tactile Knife that features a similar colorway (grey scales, purple accents), with the “scope” pattern engraved on the scales, magnacut blade and a titanium lanyard bead. While orders for the pen and pencil will be open until June 30th, Tactile Knife has stated that only one run of the 16-bit Bexars will be made, and that they are “one and done”. More information for the pen/pencil can be found here, and the knife here.
A Squawking Good time
Have you ever gone to the beach and squawked back at the seagulls as they fly over head, plotting how to steal your food? Well, if so, there’s a competition for it that you might want to enter. Hosted in Belgium, the EC Gull Screeching competition aims to create a positive image of the iconic coastal bird. Judged by a panel of 5 gull experts and marine biologists, participants earn points for vocal performance and impersonation, while often dressing up as a gull before taking the stage. While it might just be a good bit of fun for some, one 10 year old soared to the top and made history by becoming the first juvenile to earn back to back first place awards in the event’s 5 year history. Whether you want a break from your normal content or need to research the competition before next years event, you can find recap videos and full details here.
Grand Theft Auto VI – Delayed until 2026
In a (not so) suprising announcement, Rockstar Games has released that Grand Theft Auto VI is officially delayed until May 26th, 2026. Originally estimated to have a late 2025 release date, a recent press release from Rockstar states,” With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” While fans are having their day creating fan theories and trying to “connect the dots”, a recent article from ScreenRant summarizes the situation the best, “Considering how much hype there is for GTA 6, there’s no need to rush this”
A New Member of the Safari Family – The Leica M11-P Safari
While Leica is celebrating an important milestone, the 100th anniversary of the Leica 1 release, they’ve decided to continue on the tradition of the Iconic Safari series with a new M11-P. While this new release is internally identical to the M11-P released in 2023, the traditional “shiny black” has been replaced with a matte olive green coating, silver accents, and a matching olive leatherette. Those with a keen eye might notice the “missing” red Leica Logo on the front, a symbol that many photographers can recognize from across the room, a design choice carried over from the standard M11-P. Featuring a full frame “M”, 60MP sensor, built in “content credentials”, 256GB of internal storage, and Leica’s M lens mount. For those unaware, Leica has consistently used the M mount for over 70 years, allowing users to combine modern and vintage lens’ or bodies as they wish. The Safari M11-P is available now through Leica and authorized retailers, with a US retail price of $10,495.
