eBay Finds: The Datron, Decimal, Dynamic & More

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion!

Omega Geneve Dynamic

Starting this week off with a really neat 1960’s vintage Omega Geneve Dynamic. I mean, does it get any retro-cooler than this oval stunner with the blue bullseye dial?? The unique oval steel case is in excellent condition with the original radial brushed finish still intact. The dial is what makes this one stand out though, with the silver base and bold blue ring and black/white thin hash lines. Really a wild look. This example looks all-original, including the original leather rally strap with Omega signed buckle! Seller states the watch runs well, but no movement picture.

Mido Multifort

Next up we have this beautiful little Mido Multifort Super Automatic military style piece. The steel case looks good, and it has a nice wide bezel. The seller doesn’t give the width of the case, but it’s definitely going to be on the smaller side. The black dial with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers is gorgeous, with a great patina’d look, and a classic sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The crown is the correct, original one, oversized and domed, unique to Mido. Seller states the watch runs, but again no movement picture. Really fun military style watch with loads of character.

Gallet Decimal

This vintage Gallet Decimal chronograph is an absolute winner. The jumbo sized, 37mm wide steel case is superb, with razor sharp edges on the elegant beveled lugs, and the original brushed/polished surfaces are pristine. The eggshell white dial is perfect, with delicate Arabic numeral hour markers in black and an outer decimal track in red. The thin hour and minute hands stand out in brilliant blued steel, with a thin red sweep chrono hand. The dual chronograph subdials are placed at 3 and 9 for perfect symmetry. The EP4.68 caliber Excelsior Park movement is finished beautifully, and is clean as a whistle. And to top it off? It comes with box and papers! Wow.

LeCoultre Memovox

The LeCoultre Memovox is a legendary alarm watch, and this watch is a perfect example of why. Mechanical alarm watches are just so cool, and actually functionally useful! Of course, they were much more useful before we all started carrying iPhones in our pockets, but if you’re reading this, you know why it’s awesome to have an actual mechanical alarm watch on your wrist and need no convincing. This example is in excellent overall condition with a pleasing yellow gold fill case and a champagne colored dial. Seller states the caliber K 814 manual wind movement runs and works properly, and it even comes in a LeCoultre box!

Vintage Caravelle

From shiny elegance to wabi sabi utilitarian diver! This vintage Caravelle diver has been loved and worn, and it shows. The case looks unpolished, but does show some honest wear, and the aluminum elapsed time diver’s bezel has a nice faded patina, aka “ghost bezel”. I’m not always a fan of patina, but I do love me some faded bezel! The dial has some patina as well as the original signed crown. Seller states it’s currently running, and it comes on a vintage Tropic style dive strap. Great vintage diver with character and honest patina!

Movado Datron

Finishing up this week with one more golden great, a vintage Movado Datron HS360 chronograph. The large 37mm wide gold fill case is in good shape, likely polished in its lifetime, but still looks presentable. The gold dial with three black chrono subdials and date window at 12 o’clock is in perfect condition and is frankly a beauty! The 31 jewel Zenith caliber 2019 automatic movement is incredible, and looks super clean. Seller states it runs and functions properly, so you’re ready to go and time…..anything!
