Stare Into the Hypnotizing Turbine 41 Titanium from Perrelet

An absolute first since the line’s launch in 2009, Swiss watch brand Perrelet has released its smallest case size to date in the Turbine 41 Titanium. Since the initial launch, the average diameter of Perrelet products has stayed at 44 mm, rising as large as 48 mm. In response to growing demand from slimmer wrists and seekers of smaller watches, the company went on a journey to shrink the Turbine to its now revealed 41 mm diameter.

In order to adapt the Turbine to current tastes, the Maison’s designers and technicians not only had to miniaturize the architecture of the case, but also the construction of the turbine, thus further demonstrating their high-qualified expertise and savoir-faire. The spinning turbine can rotate freely at the slightest movement of the wrist, reminiscent of the aeronautical propulsion systems from which it clearly takes inspiration. The watch is composed of 12 black anodized aluminum blades with five counterweights to allow the watch to return to a resting position. The distinctive turbine, while purely aesthetic in function, requires perfect balance to ensure the hypnotic movement that characterizes the full collection.

The Turbine 41 Titanium is offered in ten references. Four with a polished and brushed grade 2 titanium case as well as a lower-dial in shades of blue, green, red or black. Each model is combined, again for the first time, with an integrated titanium bracelet. The other six versions have a black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) titanium case with a rubber strap matching the colors of their sub-dials: yellow, orange, red, blue, black, and “English green”. With both colorful and more understated editions, all variants of the Turbine 41 Titanium share a sport-chic, contemporary style that continues to distinguish Perrelet on the wrist. The Titanium ensures the watch remains extremely light on the wrist, as well as providing high shock and corrosion resistance.

Another new detail is the redesigned hour and minute hands. Staying similar to previous models, the hands are now filled with white luminescent material. The black profile and horizontal segment divide the base and the tip dynamically. The glowing hands as well as the embossed mixed indices on the flange allow for optimal legibility even in low light conditions. The slim second hand pairs with the hue of the lower dial for the black DLC titanium variant and has a red hue on the polished/brushed titanium models.

Every watch is powered by a self-winding in-house movement: the P-331-MH calibre.  The movement is manufactured by Soprod, owned by the Festina Group that also owns Perrelet. With a balance wheel working at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement is extremely reliable and precise. Though this is also guaranteed by two certification, both the COSC and Chronofiable. The P-331-MH calibre can be admired through the sapphire crystal porthole on the case back, where viewers may also note the impeccable rhodium-plating throughout the bridges and weight, embellished with the brand’s logo.
