Introducing the Bronson from Collins Watch, a USA-Assembled Watch Now on Kickstarter

The founder of Collins Watch, Jimmy Collins, is a self-proclaimed “watch guy through and through.” He also has a background in music recording, a passion that lent inspiration to the design of his first watch, the Bronson. Boasting a familiar pilot’s watch aesthetic, the Bronson is a no-nonsense, grab-and-go piece. It’s not breaking the mold, but there’s no pretense that it is. At a starting price of $245, it doesn’t break the bank, either. And on top of that, each watch will be tested, adjusted, and assembled in the United States.

The case (available in either a matte blasted finish of black PVD) measures 40mm with a height of 12mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 48mm. Overall, it’s a comfortable size for a number of different wrists sizes. Further case specs include a sapphire crystal and 100-meters of water resistance. The crown at three is designed to mimic the grooves of a volume knob.

The Bronson dial is clear, legible, and to the point. Collins snuck in some elements from his recording background into the design. Other than the “volume knob” crown as mentioned above, the slashed “0” at ten mimics the phase button on a recording console.

The rest of the dial has the typical numeric hour markers with a hash-mark minutes track along the outer edge. At 12 is a large arrow point with “COLLINS” immediately below. The date window, which is white text against a matching black base, is positioned at three and semi-bordered. Right above six is the model name, “The Bronson” along with “100 METERS.” The broad flieger hands are bordered in black. The dial is coated in “old-radium” Super-LumiNova along the numerals, the markers at every hour and the arrow at 12, the hands, and the logo. The movement powering the Bronson is the popular Seiko NH35A automatic workhorse. Most readers are likely familiar with this caliber, but for those who aren’t, it’s a 24-jewel movement beating at 21,600-bph with a 41-hour power reserve and hacking seconds.

The watch will ship with a custom leather band to fit the 20mm lugs with a buckle to match the finish of the case. The Bronson has already surpassed its funding goal. Early Bird options are still available, starting at $245 for steel and $285 for PVD. The campaign ends Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 9:00 PM PDT.
