Introducing Amazon’s $30 Echo Wall Clock

Amazon is rapidly building out its Alexa ecosystem, and today, along with a slew of other equally neat and somewhat confounding gadgets, Amazon announced the Echo Wall Clock. At face value, it’s a minimalist piece of functional home décor that looks like something one might find at a museum store. And at just $30 it won’t break the bank.

Of course, there’s quite a bit more to it.

The Echo Wall Clock doesn’t have Alexa built-in, but instead it connects to a nearby Echo device via Bluetooth. It tracks timers, reminders, alarms, and it automatically changes for Daylight Saving Time. A ring of LED lights along the edge of the clock indicate whatever timer (or timers) you may have set so that you always have a visual reminder a glance away.

Honestly, for the price, I’m genuinely tempted to get one. It looks smart, has some decent functionality built into it, and I’ve actually been looking for a new wall clock for the kitchen.

Pre-order begins Thursday. To learn more, visit Amazon.
