When it comes to shopping for vintage watches on eBay, it can be a gold mine, but it can also be a minefield. Our very own Christoph McNeill (you all might know him as Instagram’s @VintageDiver) wrote a must-read, common sense guide to buying vintage watches on eBay (check out Part 1 and Part 2). So if you’re looking for a vintage watch, but are still a little nervous diving head-first into those murky waters, then don’t worry—we’re here to help. Today, we have another installment of eBay Finds, our series where we highlight some great vintage gems looking for a new home. Happy hunting!
Titoni Seascoper
Ok, so this one will definitely need some attention as the lume on the hands is damaged, but the watch itself is so rare that I just had to share it. This vintage Titoni Seascoper is one that almost never shows up for sale, and, lume issues notwithstanding, it is in excellent condition otherwise. The case is unpolished, it comes with the original crystal and signed crown, and to top it off it even comes fitted to the original beads-of-rice bracelet! This is truly a rare find, and a great add to the stable.
Bulova 666 Diver Chronograph
This Bulova 666ft chrono-diver is for the patina lovers out there. The case is unpolished and comes fitted with an original crown, but the case definitely shows some wear. The aluminum bezel is faded, the red more so than the black, and the lume pip is missing. The dial has changed to a beautiful tropical brown, which is highly sought after these days, so that’s a plus here. I have to say that this is the first example of this model that I’ve seen with a tropical dial like this. The crystal needs some Polywatch and elbow grease to really get that dial shining, but that’s an easy operation. The watch works as it should per the seller, so this one is ready to go.
