Introducing the Huckberry X Timex Diver

Outerwear and everyday carry retailer Huckberry has partnered with Timex to release a new special edition watch with a strong vintage diver aesthetic. The matching of Timex and Huckberry is a natural fit; Huckberry has been selling Timex watches in their store for some time now, and the brands share an aesthetic rooted in classic mid-century designs. Let’s take a closer look at the Huckberry X Timex Diver.

The Huckberry X Timex Diver is a classically sized 38mm tool watch that’s all business. It has 100 meters of water resistance, so it will be able to stand up to just about any moisture you throw at it, and it has a rotating 60-minute timing bezel, but this isn’t a highly technical, professional dive instrument. This is simply a well made, all-purpose, everyday watch that is designed to be strapped to your wrist and largely forgotten about until you need it. And when you need it, it has a highly legible dial with stark white hour markers and prominent baton hands that make telling the time at a glance a breeze. A reliable quartz movement ticking away provides some reassurance that it will, as they say, take a licking, and keep ticking.

In terms of case design, the Huckberry X Timex Diver has an all brushed finish that’s reminiscent of vintage military issued watches. The lugs curve gently and generous crown guards are used on the right flank. From the top down, this looks like a classically styled, Rolex Oyster inspired sports watch, but the profile view reveals strong, more modern angles. The dial is black but has been given a radial brushed treatment that has a ton of character when it catches the light. The overall impression is certainly one of a tough, no-nonsense timekeeper, that unsurprisingly would coordinate well with much of the outdoor-oriented gear that Huckberry sells.

The Huckberry X Timex Diver is exclusive to Huckberry, and only 700 will be produced. Each watch will be shipped with two straps: a genuine leather single pass strap, and a black nylon mil-strap. At only $118, this watch represents a strong value for anyone looking for a minimalist, well proportioned, go anywhere, do anything sports watch. Huckberry

Zach is a native of New Hampshire, and he has been interested in watches since the age of 13, when he walked into Macy’s and bought a gaudy, quartz, two-tone Citizen chronograph with his hard earned Bar Mitzvah money. It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay. Zach loves a wide variety of watches, but leans toward classic designs and proportions that have stood the test of time. He is currently obsessed with Grand Seiko.
