New from Techné: The Merlin Collection

Popular “budget” brand, Techné looks to have another winner on their hands with the recently released Merlin Collection. The military inspired pieces – reminiscent of airplane cockpit instrumentation and early mil watches – are available in a time (with seconds) only or a multi-function version.  The movement inside of each is a Seiko Instruments quartz movement, specifically the VD78.

A quick look at the specs reveal a very moderate 38mm size with 20mm lugs and a mineral crystal. Water resistance is shallow at 50M, which is logical for a watch with pilot-styling. The watch has a number of options for the strap at purchase: NATO, canvas or cowhide leather options are available for each model. The multi-function provides day of the week and date over the time only version.

Prices for the time only models are $190-$200 and the multi-function runs $240-$250, depending on your strap choice.

Tecnhé has continued to put out well designed military-inspired timepieces and the Merlin Collection looks to be no exception.
